“Not enough to see here”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2014

The Alligator Attraction is located in a touristy section of Madeira Beach. There are lots of fun shops to stroll past and the beach is just across the street. This made our trip out to The Alligator Attraction worth the drive. If we had driven there just for the Alligator Attraction, well, we would have been disappointed. I wish there was more to see. We paid extra to be able to hold one of the alligators, the employees are more than willing to take photos of your group. We also loved the large tortoise that was roaming freely. We didn't even notice him at first!

Pros:
Cheap admission

Cons:
Hard to find

The Alligator Attraction is a small, indoors, upstairs mini-zoo. As the name suggests, we have mostly alligators-50 of them- that range in size from the 6 month old 7 inch grunts to 8 ft. Chompers. Besides alligators, we also have rescued animals , including Rudolph, the 105 lb. tortoise who likes to fool people into thinking he's not real! Other animals include turtles, neon tetra fish, baby rays, a blue- tongued skink ,and 2 bearded dragons. We are always adding a variety of fun creatures. You never know what you will see when you visit- except of course, alligators!

“Do Not support these people by going”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2014

If you want to see some "small caged/penned" baby alligators & turtles that will never learn how to hunt for themselves, thus be doomed to this attraction forever, then go ahead and waster your money. And if you think the initial $5 you spend to walk in will be all you spend, guess again. $10-$15 on top of the entry fee, for you to take a picture of your child with a baby alligator with your own camera? Really? $5-$15 for turtle or alligator food. Let me save everyone some time - drive to your local pet shop, it's about the same experience, and far less cruel to the animals. Or better yet, checl local coupons/groupons and head to the Clearwater Aquarium Marine, where they care for injured animals... much better use of your time and money, and your kids might actually learn something.

Our alligators are bought from alligator farms which raise them for either education/ display or for product ( food, belts, etc.). Our alligators are not " doomed"; on the contrary, when they are too large for our attraction, we pay an outdoors alligator sanctuary to care for them for the rest of their lives. Rather than sell them back to the farm, we choose to pay for them to live at the sanctuary. There are many educational signs about our animals as well as employees who will tell you about the various creatures. We charge an admission fee that is a one- time fee if you keep your stickers . Other adventures do cost extra because we only charge you for what you want to do. Some customers do not want to feed or touch any of the animals so we don't charge them in the admission fee. Most of the animals are rescued animals that we will take care of fornthe rest of their lives .

“Baby Alligators!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2014

Amazing collection of alligators including a series of young alligators at different stages of development. Saw some children having a blast feeding the baby alligators using a pole with a string that had a piece of hotdog on the end.

We are so glad you were able to see the alligators of all sizes. It's pretty cool to see them from 6 months old all the way to an 8 ft. adult! ! Thanks for visiting!

“Fun experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2014

My four friends and I stopped in on our vacation last week and had a good time. Its a smaller attraction but it's a great price. It seemed a little more kid friendly, (we're 22) but we still enjoyed seeing and holding the gators. Would be great for a family with kids!

“Great Attraction for Families”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2014

Our family loved visiting The Alligator Attraction. During our hour-long visit we had the rare opportunity to get up-close and personal with baby alligators, lizards and a giant tortoise.

There are several options for admission/packages. We purchased the basic admission ticket, then added on the baby alligator feeding/training experience and a photo opportunity of our children holding a young alligator. Both of these activities were done with complete supervision by The Alligator Attraction staff.

The cost for admission was very affordable - we paid $14 for our family of four. And if you keep your sticker, you get free admission for life! They also offer a special admission rate for groups of 5 or more.

There are several other options for your visit, including the Official Gator Training Package - which includes all of the above experiences, a t-shirt, glow bracelet and a choice of a gator tooth or gator bead. The cost for this package is $29.99.

We opted for the single admission and add-ons, since it ended up being cheaper and we really didn't need the extra items.

One thing we were very impressed with was the professionalism and enthusiasm of the staff. Everyone was friendly, helpful and took the extra time to answer all our questions.

There is a small gift shop if you want to purchase any gator-related items before you leave. We picked up some great educational books on alligators before we left.

I would recommend visiting earlier in the day - we were there around 11 a.m., which was the perfect time, since most people were at the beach and the crowds were minimal.

Overall, this was a fun and interesting little side-trip that was also a great value for families.
