ok.....we took the 10 hour deep sea fishing trip with Captian Chris and holy moly......what fish we caught!!!! excellent knowlegable staff!!! can't wait to book again next year!!!

My daughter and I took the morning half day offshore fishing trip on March 30, 2008. The trip was almost exactly as advertised. We cruised out into the gulf for 1 hour, fished for 3 hours, and cruised back for the final hour. We caught 11 keeper fish (all grey snapper 2 pounds or less). We also caught a very small grouper, and several puffer fish. We rented poles from Hubbards and they were barely serviceable. If we had hooked any large fish I seriously doubt we would have been able to land them with the rusty old poles and reels we were given. The deck hands did a great job of helping with the rigging of the poles and taking care of our fish. The boat was old, but well maintained. My 9 year old daughter got bored quickly and watched a movie inside the cabin for most of the trip. For anyone interested in this trip I would recommend bringing your own gear.

The week of 2/19 we traveled to Madeira Beach and scheduled a morning 1/2 day fishing trip with Hubbard's. The morning of, we arrived at the dock and the weather was cool. (50?) The captain called out to friends already on the water and waves were 6+ feet. He suggested that we try for an afternoon trip. The captain then called us to say that even though he would take us out, the waves were still 6'+ and that we would not be able to fish in very deep water and wouldn't be very successful. Basically, he was suggesting that it would not be the trip that we had envisioned. They were still willing to take us out but gave us the option of cancelling. Even though it was our decision to cancel, they returned our deposit. A lesser outfit would have kept the money..... I thought that was very customer-service-friendly. Also, they gave us 4 free tickets to their Dolphin Watching tour that afternoon because of the inconvenience. Imagine that: the weather is bad, we cancel the fishing trip and they give us free tickets ?! Again, nice company. The tour was fun, informative and relaxing. Nice time. In short, while I"m not able to review the service provided by Hubbard's from a 'fishing' point of view, I can say that they are friendly and accomodating.

I have a complaint concerning my trip this past Friday 8/17/07 -- 1/2 day morning excursion on the Friendly Fisherman.

It's not about the fishing, although we caught 4 fish out of 6 guys in our group.

I just checked my transaction statement on my credit card and I have been charged for 3 1/2 day trips, on two different transactions, when I only purchased 2 1/2 day trips for a total of $128.40. -

For some reason I had an additional transaction for $64.20. We had a group of 6 individuals, who all paid separately, except for the 2 payments I put on my card.

The people in the office couldn't seem to graspe the concept that they charged me an additional transaction that I never authorized or signed for.

It seemed from the get go the individual behind the cash drawer was not computing/charging accurately. Upon my first transaction, she charged somebody else's credit card, from a different reservation, and put it in front of me to sign.

I was told to call back the following day to fix this problem. The individual I was told to speak with is not even there half the time.

I would not recommend this outfit to anyone looking to catch fish or get charged accordingly. If you enjoy paying additional, unauthorized fees, this place is for you.
