We stayed at Madeira Vista last week in unit 403, and we had a wonderful time. I'll try to address areas that always concern me when booking a rental. First, everything was handled in a businesslike and friendly way. I dealt with Jack for the business portion of our trip and told him which floor plan we'd like for our stay, and Jack reserved 403 for us. It has the split bedroom floor plan with the master bedroom overlooking the beach. I received confirmation mail within a few days of making the reservation and a receipt for total payment of the rental less than a week after mailing my check. Both letters included brochures with information about the building.
In addition, the material on the web site is very accurate. Sometimes you get to a place and think, "Is this the place I saw online????" The videos of the units, photos, and information is realistic and not doctored to look better than it is. That is reassuring to me because it indicates that other aspects of the contract will also be accurate.
Most people want their rental to be clean, and this one was. The floors had been mopped and vacuumed prior to our arrival. Fresh linens were in all the bathrooms and bedrooms, The condo was well furnished, spacious, and comfortable. The appliances, which included a dishwasher, washer, dryer, stove, and refrigerator, all worked properly. The kitchen was stocked with skillets, pots, baking pans, dishes, glasses, silverware, etc. We also had dish towels and they started us out with spices, paper towels, and detergents. A hall closet had beach chairs, an umbrella, and beach toys for children. It even had bottles of bubble solution which my young grandson enjoyed using on the beach. Each bathroom also had bath towels for use on the beach. Basically, just bring your food and clothing and you are set to enjoy yourself.
Checking in was very easy. Jack met us at check-in time and took us on a tour of the building, showing us how to operate the gates, codes, and electric grills. We had a covered designated parking space. Jack also gave us a welcome packet with a map of the area and coupons from some of the local businesses. We especially liked his recommendation for the meat market, and found the meat we bought there to be reasonably priced and of good quality. Jack also gave us John's phone number. John is the go-to-person for any maintenance issues. Unfortunately, we had to call John because the condo above us developed a leaking ice maker line, and water puddled on our bedroom floor. John came, checked it out, and called a plumber. The incident was handled efficiently and did not interfere with our vacation except for using towels to soak up the water the first night.
The location of the condo is really nice. It is right on the beach and so close to the water, and that is something I want in a beach rental. Restaurants, grocery stores, and other businesses are nearby. John's Pass is a short drive of perhaps 5 to 10 minutes. I can't imagine a better location because it is near the action but still in a quiet area of the beach.
One item I had wondered about before our trip was the blended balcony. I was afraid I would miss the traditional balcony, but the glass windows were ideal for us. My young grandson, who is 19 months old, loved running to them and staring out at the sea. We would never had allowed him on a balcony alone, which would have limited his opportunities to watch boats, sea birds, wave runners, and helicopters. He would spot something and tell us about it before any of us knew it was there. Each morning a tractor covers the beach smoothing the sand, and he never tired of telling us when the tractor came by. Windows covered with screen also open, which allows you to hear the sounds of the sea.
One unique feature of the condo that we all loved was the lower deck. The large wooden deck is cool even during the heat of the day because the breezes cool it off. The gas grills and picnic tables were great. We grilled steaks, burgers, and pork chops while there. It was a nice addition to our stay. There is also a community loaner area on the deck. Pool noodles, chairs, umbrellas, sand toys, and even a boogie board were in the crate, available on a first come first served basis. There were also books, but I used my Kindle for my reading and never checked out any of them. We saw John every day, and he always asked if we needed anything and if the water had all finally dried up. Again, a nice friendly touch that made our stay more pleasant.
I really hated to check out and head home because we had such a wonderful time. If you want a rental in a nice location, close to the beach, and reasonably priced, Madeira Vista is certainly a good choice.
