“favorite place to stay on LBK”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

we go to LBK several times a year and cannot find a better resort. small, clean and beautiful, the Beach Castle has all the amenities of the larger rental condos and yet only has 21 units so they are rarely crowded. Unit 3 is my favorite but all the units are close to the beach and bay. awesome property and great staff in the office.

Room Tip: make sure you look at all the units on their website to find the one that best suits what you want...

Beach Castle is a good value and an OK place to stay. Most condos are individually owned so they are all a little different in terms of furniture and decor. Our condo was a 2/2 and very basic. The pool is a little small but the beach is quiet and just a short walk if you stay on the gulf side. They have a great application you can download that gives you lots of info about the area and discounts on local restaurants and attractions. There is a great little restaurant called the blue dolphin within walking distance that servers good breakfast and they give you a ton of food.

We might try another place next year but I would stay there again.

My family staying here over Memorial weekend. We wood have left if we could but E&V had a no refund policy. They offered to switch us to a lower unit after the weekend but we would have no ocean view, which we paid.
This is a non luxury resort that is good for families. Just be sure to rent one of the units managed by the on site management company. The units with the best views are 1-4. Not sure of their cleanliness, but they face the beach.

Our unit#6 has mold issues. Mold on the a/c vent in the master bedroom, lots of mold on the shower curtains, hole in small bathroom wall that looks like water damage.

We were disappointed to hear of this guest experience. Beach Castle Resort is a multi-managed property in that several of the units are managed by off-site management companies, such as Unit #6. RVA has no affiliations with said companies and their individual policies. Our only hope is this guest will give Beach Castle another chance - as it truly is a wonderful vacation spot!

Our family stayed in Units 1 and 3 on the first floor of this vacation resort, and had a wonderful visit. This is a small resort located on both sides of the key (we stayed on the Gulf of Mexico side) and is quiet and much more private than the bigger resorts all around. Beautifully kept and convenient to the beach with views of the sunset, these units offer 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with full kitchens and a little screen porch on which to eat breakfast overlooking the water. A pool and hot tub is located across the street and we took advantage of that as well. The kids had a great time collecting shells and wading on the sandy beach. A short walk away is the Lazy Lobster and Ciao Italia restaurants, both of which were wonderful. They have bikes for patrons' use as well! Great place to stay...

Stayed here for a weekend in September. The pool was closed at this time for renovation but looks like it's going to be well worth it when finished. Property has two sides of the street; one side bay and the other is ocean. They have a dock and boats to use on the bay and umbrellas and chairs on the ocean side. The rooms were clean and had everything you would need to prepare and cook meals. Walk to beach from bay side was very short. Lots of shells to collect on the beach. Very quiet resort.

Room Tip: Decide if you want to be on the beachside or walk across the street by staying on the bayside.

We had unit #22 over the Memorial Day weekend and had an excellent stay. The split floor plan with the bedrooms on opposite sides was nice and this unit must have been redone in the past year or so.

The feel of the unit was light and tropical. There is a slight view of the bay from the screened porch. This unit was across the street from the beach, but even with it being a holiday weekend, crossing the street with young children was not a problem.

For the money, this was an excellent choice.

Word of warning to anyone staying on Longboat in 2012 - the Publix grocery store has been torn down and they are building a new one that is scheduled to open in 2013. The CVS has a few more groceries than a normal one to help with this, but you will still need to shop off island for most of your food needs.

Room Tip: talk to the reservation person about what you expect in a room before you book.
