“Great value great location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2012 via mobile

We go to LBK whenever we can for spring break. Decided a week from break to head down. I found unit 217 at The Diplomat available so booked it. What a great find!! If you are looking for the Hilton or Ritz than this might not be for you. However,if you like the pool and beach just feet away , a clean spacious unit and a place that is just minutes from St. Armands and Publix than this is for you. Our family loves qiuet and this is quiet and relaxing. Sad to be going back north. Will definitely come back.

This was our fifth holiday stay at The Diplomat. It's the right size, nice amenities, friendly staff, and a well cared for property. Convenient to the local grocery store and other local attractions. the bathrooms are small ... but functional. We met some very interesting folks and the sea-shells abound ... steps from the front door. Not the fanciest or most exclusive of places in LBK ... but that's what we like and why we call it "home".

Room Tip: Go online and view the building toward the gulf. The second floor has, what we think, are the best...

Spent a week in a 2 bedroom/2 bth with husband, 2 teen daughters and their friends. This place had tons of room for everyone. Bathrooms a little dated but condo had everything you need. Great place for relaxation, clean and friendly. Publix grocery was south less than 1 mile and The Dolphin cafe was north had the best food and service around. Would definately return to the Diplomat.

Room Tip: Room 247/249 2 bedroom

There was nothing particularly wrong with our stay at the Diplomat. We were only staying there because my grandparents had a place on LBK. The rooms are ancient and most need significant updates. This is really a Motel, not a "Condominium Beach Resort". It is true that there is a pool and the location is right on the beach. Unfortunately you don't really have any other options on LBK. Price is right, but this place is a step down from a Holiday Inn or similar.

My family stayed at the Diplomat Resort for our first time recently. Our experience was very positive from the first contact with the owner of the condo we stayed in. He responded to my e-mails in a timely manner and answered all of my questions. My reservation downpayment was made with the staff at the Diplomat and again I had no problems.
Our unit was nicely furnished and had everything we needed in the kitchen to prepare our meals. We had a large screen TV with stereo sound in the main sitting area and a small TV in the bedroom. My kids were able to sleep on the sofas and had no problems with that. The bedroom had a walk in closet with plenty of shelves for storage.
The resort has a common balcony on the beach and street sides. We never had problems finding a parking spot in front of our building.
The beach is very clean and the days we spent there were also quiet. It's a pretty low key crowd which is what we wanted. We didn't have problems with late night noise.
The pool is well maintained and clean with plenty of chairs and covered tables to use.
We also liked the fact that we could walk (0.6 miles) to the Publix grocery store. There is a paved walking/bike trail on the opposite side of the street.
I would recommend the Diplomat as a nice place to stay for a beach vacation.

Room Tip: Unit 245 through the VRBO website

We have stayed at the Diplomat several times. It looks like an older style motel, but is condos owned by individuals and rented out. With just two of us a studio is perfect. What we love about it is all the roooms face the beach and when you walk out the back door you are maybe 30 yards from the water's edge. There is a nice heated pool. The units are not plush and kind of dated, (the bathroom has 50's pink tile, tub and toilet). But the units are clean and bright. Owners need to update to flat screens (none of the units we've stayed in has them). The price is much less than the larger resorts and the staff is friendly. They need to hire a pro to improve the wireless network. They use the cable company and it was down 80% of the time we were there. One guest said it was down when they stayed in Feb. also.
