“Perfect low key in long key.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

Though not much to do in Long Key, this place was in a beautiful location. Much clearer water and cleaner beaches than Key West. AC was dirty upon arrival but cleaned quickly. Met tons of other guests as well as the manager. Would definitely stay here again.

Only a short drive down to Key West gives our patrons the ability to enjoy our lovely tranquil resort at reasonable rates. We enjoy offering a "low key getaway" as most people are coming to the Keys to do just that... be low key.

I came here with my two boys and another family for Labor Day weekend, and was pleasantly surprised at what a great time we had. It is definitely not your typical "resort" so if you come expecting a hotel experience like the Hyatt, Hawk's Cay or Cheeca Lodge you will be very disappointed.

When we first arrived , I admit I was disappointed that the hotel didn't have a beach. However it's the Keys...there really aren't many traditional beaches so we just wore water shoes to walk in over the rocks and had a great time swimming, floating and snorkeling.

The location of our room couldn't have been better. It had a nice sized porch with a table where I sat with my coffee in the morning. Just a few yards from our door where lounge chairs and tiki hut umbrellas to hang out, read, eat lunch or enjoy a cocktail at sunset. The room had a large refirgerat, microwave, coffee maker and oven. We'd come back with a few families and plan to cook or BBQ a few meals at the hotel.

Our boys loved fishing off the dock everyday. We also made use of the free kayaks. The breakfast was a nice amenity. Nothing fancy BUT they do have a Nespresso machine and the coffee was excellent! They do not have milk or cream, so bring your own if that matters to you!

There is a rental place right next door where you can rent boats, kayaks, fishing gear and snorkeling gear. You can also buy bait. There is a mini-market across the road for anything you make have forgotten. The location of the hotel on Long Key is not terribly close to Any shopping or restaurants. Be prepared for a 15-20 minute drive if you want to eat out.

Overall, we had a terrific weekend at The Lime Tree Bay Resort! The staff was friendly and helpful. The housekeeping staff were friendly and thorough. The location is beautiful and we will definitely go back.

Room Tip: Make sure you book a room on the main site and not across the street. We loved our room that was in...

We are delighted when a family enjoys your stay. While we do not have a sandy beach many of our guests do exactly as this family did. There are several lovely beaches around us that are great to swim in as well but you need to drive to them.
Our restaurant will be open soon so we hope our guests will enjoy having it close by.
Grilling is one of the amenities we love offering our guests.... nothing like eating at a picnic table watching our beautiful sunsets.

We chose to stay partway down the keys so we could do day trips to Key West, Looe Key, and Key Largo for snorkelling. We booked through travelocity top secret hotels and wouldn't have stayed here if we had the choice. At check in we were told to go back out down the road about 2 blocks, and you're in the building just before the gas station (and an engine repair shop on the other side!). We were told we could use the pool at the neighbouring inn, and could walk over for a free continental breakfast, but were warned there was nowhere to sit to eat. One day they even tried to turn us away before 10am, saying breakfast was over.

The accommodations were okay, for the price we paid, but the gas station, highway traffic and AC unit were very loud (you may have trouble sleeping if you're a light sleeper), and you could hear the neighbouring guests through the walls. The main "resort" was a bit of a let down too, with a small above ground pool and no beach. The waterfront smelled of rotten seaweed and the complimentary kayaks had expired lifejackets.

Our resort offers many different type of rooms, these are actually what we call Dockside which are on a canal and many of our guests enjoy the fact that they can dock a boat. The pool that was suggested is not a neighboring pool but actually another part of our resort which is also on the dock side which is why we recommend that pool, however all guests are encouraged to enjoy the entire resort. Our above ground pool is a regular pool on a large deck and provides excellent breezes and lovely sunset views.
Our beach is listed as a sunning beach as most beaches in the Keys are. Some of our guests have water shoes and once you get in the snorkeling is fabulous...
We have life jackets that are used daily so these might have been wet but if a guest needs or wants another one the front desk is happy to provide one that is dry.
Unfortunately the seaweed is Mother Natures way of feeding the fish but is only seasonal.

I thought the rooms were clean and deco but my husband thought the place was a dump. He didn't like the "above ground pool" and the lack of a beach or that his knees were practically in the shower when he sat on the toilet. Yes, it was surrounded by water but unless you dove off the pier there was no real way to get in other than the rock areas. There is also no eateries in the vacinity but we were going to Islamorada anyway for dinner. The manager was very kind to refund us for a night we decided not to use and move on.

We feel our resort has the qualities of a up to date property with the ease and look of a lovely time gone by era. Our pool is not above ground, it is actually a pool set in a deck out over the bay up so the views are great and a breeze comes over....Our beach is a sunning beach as are most beaches in the Keys, but if you wear water shoes and step in about 3 yards the swimming and snorkeling are wonderful.
We do have a new restaurant opening in the next few months that will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner which will be better for our guests.
The standard rooms are in the process of being renovated as several still have the small bathrooms.

We stayed here from 09-03-12 to 09-07-13. I really liked this place. We decided to stay further up in the Keys and go back and forth to Key West since it was cheaper and was a lot more relaxing. Key West was nice but busy and it was nice to have some quiet down time too. Staying here was a great decision! We went with the standard king room but paid a bit more to upgrade to an upper level room. That was two queen beds. The first room was ok it just didn't have as great of a view and no DVD player. We paid an extra $50 total and it was worth it! Had a bigger room and the view was amazing. Most of the other reviews of the beach not really being a beach is true. We took water shoes along so we could walk out. Used the free kayaks and was a very neat experience. The pool is a little small but nice. The views of the sunsets were amazing. The staff was very nice. If we ever go again we would stay there again. The continental breakfast was nice. I didn't mind the prepackaged muffins. The juice was fresh squeezed. The reviews of the most comfortable beds was right on. They were very comfortable.

We love that our guests feel about the resort like we do. Our beach is like most of the beaches in the Keys but going in with water shoes does work great! Happily once the restaurant next door opens our guests will be able to enjoy a free continental breakfast there as well as have the option to order from a menu (lunch and dinner too).
We are always happy to upgrade a guest whenever a room is available.

Very nice hotel with somewhat updated rooms. The showers were very low. I am 5'9" and had to bend down to wash my hair under the shower. Definitely can use some work in the bathrooms as they are very tiny.

Room Tip: Even if you book a king size bed room, you need to call the hotel before your arrival and specify it...

Our sunsets are spectacular..... we really do get rave reviews on those. Some of our standard rooms do still have small bathrooms but will be renovated to larger baths soon.

Loved Lime Tree Bay Resort! So many of the reviews are true...so it all depends on your expectations. We were two couples (friends) and we stayed at the Zane Grey townhouses, our unit overlooked the pool and the canal. Each morning we sat out on the patio and watched the sunrise, the boats and the day start. That being said...."noseeums" small bugs were biting us - but worth it! We had three bedrooms and baths, all very clean, but not luxury. The kitchen had most of what we needed, but was lacking a large bowl, and a few items for cooking (no peeler, paring knife etc) Views....incredible!! awesome!! we actually LOVED the location, quiet...brought groceries, and went to exciting nightlife and then came back to serenity. Parking is limited, but room for a boat. We rented a boat from Pier 68 (across the street) and found some exciting places to snorkel, Key West is a couple hours away. We would absolutely return here! :)

Room Tip: Zane Grey is across the street, but has access to services at the resort

So glad our townhouses offered what was wanted. It is a great way for several couples or a family to stay together but have their own bedroom and bathroom. There is a pool for the townhouses however we encourage our guests to come over to use the sunning beach, pool here and the free kayaks. We appreciate notations of what is missing in the kitchens so they can be immediately replaced.
Many of our guests like to stay at Lime Tree Bay and take a day trip to Key West... it's always nice to come back to relax and watch the best sunset in the keys here...
