We booked this trip 2 years ago, but the hotel cancelled after Hurrican Wilma came through. So, this year we gave it another shot. I decided to read the Trip Advisor reveiws about a week before we checked-in, and because they were a little mixed, was a little nervous.
Calling this a Resort is an overstatement, but the property is quite nice. Our room was very clean and nicely furnished, but the A/C unit was loud, as I had read on an earlier review. The staff was helpful and accomodating. The hotel is right on the gulf, and the sunsets were spectacular. There's really no beach, but I think that's more the nature of the keys than the hotel's fault. The Little Italy Restaurant next door was very good, but really the only game in town if you wanted to have a lazy evening and not drive. The pool was very nice.
My pet peeve: the A/C thermostat had a "stop" so you could only drop it down so far (we jury-rigged this for our stay). The hot water was the same - it only got just so hot. Fine for my husband, just a little too lukewarm for me. I did complain twice about this, but it never did get adjusted.
Overall, this was a very nice hotel if you are looking for a quiet stay with not a lot of extras.
