Fresh Fish is the only way I like it...3/18/08
For my husband's birthday we decided to try Cap's even though I am not a seafood fan. The boat ride is a short endevour to the island. The boardwalk leads to the bar and restaurant. It is an old Florida building, offering a rustic romantic feeling. The hostess was attentive and we were seated promptly. Their menu offers something for everyone. From chicken and steak to Mahi Mahi (or as we Floridians call it...Dolphin), Yellow Tail Snapper, Shrimp and Lobster, They also offer several cooking styles. We had their crab cake appetizer which was creamy on the inside with huge clumps of crab. I have never had a crab cake like it. My husband had the seafood platter; sauteed with shrimp, scallops, snapper and dolphin. I tried a bit of everything, and each bite melted in my mouth. I had the cajun blackened dolphin, which it was exactly that, cajun. It was delicious. The portions were enormous. We have leftovers! Their dinner comes with a choice of salad, which was also a large portion, and fresh. The sides were green beans, with either mashed sweet potatoes or BLT mashed potatoes. BLT mashed potatoes sounds a little odd, but they were excellent. After speaking with the waitress to tell her of my new found liking for various types of seafood, she said all their fish is caught that day. Unless you caught it yourself, and grilled it on the boat, it doesn't get any fresher than that, This is definitely worth a try. Unlike Red Lobster, you can cut Cap's fish with a fork or spoon...no knife required!
