“Great Meal in every way!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2007

Had a GREAT meal at Blue Moon last week. Each course was delicious. Our service was very good as well and there are many wines to choose from. The portions are big too! It is a beautiful restaurant on the waterway with inside and outside dining. We ate inside as it was a little stuffy outside.
Gumbo- watch out very filling, a little too much for an appetizer before a full meal but very rich and tasty. Had the marinated tuna app as well, it was soo good.
But my favorites were the salad - Arugula with Maytag Blue cheese - was simple but out of this world, a light vinaigrette that barely coated the greens was the perfect dressing to go with the generous portion of cheese
and entrees - we had the yellowtail and the grouper, both were fresh tasting and cooked perfectly.

Can't wait til we visit our favorite place in FL next year, Lauderdale by the Sea!

“Take a pass”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2007

Overpriced with an intercoastal location sums up this restaurant. The wait after we ordered was 40 minutes so bring a list of discussion topics or a good book with you. You will be there a long time.

The grossly overpriced salads aren't even Wendy's quality and small. The fillet mignon was cooked correctly but tough. By the time I finally got it I was so hungry I would have eaten cat food.

The wait staff was fair. We weren't rushed after we were served which is refreshing.

Overall, the meal was overpriced and not memorable.

“Absolutely Fabulous!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2006

3 of us took a taxi from Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale up to Lauderdale by the Sea, to meet another friend at his Favorite restaurant, Blue Moon Fish Co. We had never been there before, and hoped for the $25 taxi ride it would be worth it.

We sat outside along the water, which at first was a nuisance with the sun beaming in our faces, but was worth it once the sun set.

Cute waiters running around offered eye candy while parusing the menu.

Menu was short and sweet. They serve fish, but also have steak, and chicken available for non seafood eaters.

Salads were also available.

This restaurant is casual dining with flair, attitude. Meaning thought was put into the presentation of the foods, and portions were large except for what I saw of the salads. This is not a cheap restaurant, salads around $8, and the filet mignon was around $32.

3 of us ordered the filet - it was nothing short of amazing. Presentation was amazing, creative, eye catching. Everything on the plate was edible from the fried plantains to the deep fried angel hair pasta.

This was simply the best filet mignon on the planet.

One of the friend's had a birthday, and the staff brought out a banana cream pie with "Happy Birthday" written in chocolate along the edge of the plate, and a lit candle sitting in a pile of whipped cream next to the wedge of pie. The waiter said he doesn't sing, but this was the next best thing he would do.

It was my first time to Lauderdale by the Sea, Fort Lauderdale, and Blue Moon Fish Company, and I can't wait until my next trip down there.

Just be forwarned, our final bill, with 4 dinners, 2 salads, 1 mixed cocktail, and 3 sodas/tea/or water and 1 huge dessert was $180.
Be prepared to spend, but relax and enjoy it while you are there.
