“a little bit of paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2012

My husband and I recently visited Paradise Lakes and was so wonderfully surprised at the great vibe and ambience of the resort. We felt immediately comfortable and enjoyed our stay and wished we had booked longer. The front desk staff was accommodating and friendly. We were given a tour of the facilities and decided to sit poolside for the rest of the day. We had previously visited Caliente the day before and felt quite uncomfortable there and decided to leave almost immediately. It was refreshing to be at Paradise Lakes among naturists and not lifestylers only.

The pool area is large and there are plenty of lounge chairs and tables as well. The large pool is not heated but it was refreshing once you got in. The resort is clothing optional except for the pool area which is nude only. There is also a conversation pool which is heated and a heated spa pool. People of all shapes and sizes were enjoying the sun. My only suggestion concerning the pool area is that the pools need to be swept and cleaned more often as there were some dead insects and debris from the trees floating.

The Key West pool bar/restaurant was not crowded, but it did take a very long time to get the lunch order prepared. Hemingways' Restaurant is a very nice sit down indoor restaurant open for dinner on the weekends. The food was adequate, but needs to be expanded and/or an additional chef hired to offer more than the basic fare. Our waitress Jess was excellent, answering our questions about the resort and the area honestly. She was attentive and friendly.

We did look at a number of properties for sale and/or rent while there and our advice to anyone renting or staying for a night or two is, know the type of accommodation you are getting, as a number of the units offered are privately owned and run the gammut of being in great condition or in need of repair. The hotel rooms around the pool area are nice standard rooms and a few are more than standard and are quite resonably priced for a night or two. They are convenient to all the resort facilities.

As a naturist couple, we have visited naturist B&B's and beach areas in the US as well as in Australia and were very pleased with our stay and the time spent at Paradise Lakes. We plan to return very soon.

Room Tip: If you are going for 3 nights or less, book the hotel rooms around the pool area. Be mindful of the...

“Love, Love, Love the changes already in place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

Our previous stay was under the old ownership, no tour, no contact by staff after sign in,

Our trip in October 2012 was a different story, love the new energy, changes that have already occurred and the new plans.

The tour we rec'd was complete and helped us understand more about a community like Paradise Lakes. And the Entertainment Director is amazing and full of enthusiasm!!!

The pools were heated to a comfortable level, staff stopped to see how we were doing and remembered our names.

Yes the rooms are dated but have begun to be renovated, Key West was a great place to grab a burger. The dinning room still has some work to be done but it is definately improved.

We have just booked New Years and are very excited to go back.

“Relaxed and Enjoyable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

My wife and I visited in October 2012 with some friends. We had never been to Paradise Lakes Resort before, and we had ready both good and bad reviews, so we were not sure what to expect.

The staff was very friendly, regularly checking in with us to see if we needed anything. Our room was very clean and though the hotel was old and had some outdated amenities (old tv, no phone), it served its purpose.

We heard from residents and regulars who said that new owners have taken over the resort after a period of decline, and we saw the owners on premises the entire time working and keeping things moving. Many locals thought the resort is coming back strong and are happy with the work being done on the location.

Everyone we met was friendly, relaxed, and respectful, including staff, residents, and visitors. The food from the Key West bar was good, the drinks were cold, though we did hear some complaints about the food at the restaurant. Our breakfasts were good there, however.

Club Reveal was a very fun spot in the evenings and added a more adult end to each night with a DJ handling the tunes on site.

We will certainly be back.

Room Tip: The pool-side lower level rooms are very convenient and we were glad to have one during our stay. Ma...

“Anniversary NIGHTMARE!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary. I found PL website that looked great and told my wife let try something exciting. But the resort looks nothing like the website, and I can tell why there are no pictures of the Studio Condo Lakeside rooms for a reason. Our room we had to find with a map because "we didn't get a tour" of the resort, the room wasn't nice, a very old TV, VHS was the first thing I notice. We checked the rest of the room as we walked around the our feet where black from dirt from the tile floors. The grounds where not well kept and needed some upkeep. A very bad start to what I wanted to be great trip. The staff was very excited to talk to us before we gave them our credit card, but when went immediately went to talk to them about shorting our stay they said they could not do anything. They said we needed to talk to the General Manager Stephanie Gibson. After many try’s even by email "NO responses". We spent our anniversary in an expensive filthy outdated room and didn’t use the grounds but for one hour. We went home early dissatisfied.
DON'T sign anything till you get a tour of room and grounds.
We will never go back!! "Nightmare"

“Bad business Bad time”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2012

Was there over Christmas. An all inclusive resort, and NOTHING was open. Had to leave to get lunch and Supper. Bar was closed so the lady I was with bought a bottle of rum, so she could have a few drinks around the pool. They charged my card $300 for the bottle of rum (Not allowed to bring in own drinks) But nothing was open. and an additional $25 each for 2 bottles of mixers. Cost me an extra $350, which was more than the stay. I will never go there again, and neither will anyone I know. Its not what it used to be. And its turning into a run down dump...
