Upon check in we were required to sign a non smoking agreement, which we did. As the elevator door opened on the second floor the stench of musty carpet, cigar and cigarettes slapped you in the face. Our room smelled of a giant ashtray. My husband made an about face and went right back to the desk to complain. Why have a guest sign a no smoking agreement and send us to an obvious smoking floor? Without question we were switched to another room on the 4th floor. The air coming out of the elevator was much better. The hallway carpets definitely need replacing. The room was much more cheerful as it had a light shade of yellow paint where the other was drab white . The first three nights of our five day stay were thought to be acceptable. We had been at a sports tournament and not in the room much at all those first days. However, it was after that where things went downhill. The carpets are damp and dirty and you literally leave black footprints on the bathroom tile if you were barefoot. A cockroach climbed out of our cooler and my husband, the bug-a-phobic that he is nearly lost his mind. With us not being sure if it came back with us from the sporting event, we gave the room benefit of the doubt. The following morning, the day we were leaving, he smushed two more roaches in the bathroom. GAH! Breakfast was, eh. You get what you pay for. The woman who ran it could not have been more accommodating though. 24 hour coffee in the lobby depended on who was working the night shift. We went down one evening and were told it may be empty because they don't normally brew fresh till 5am. We informed the lazy schmo that we let the employee working before him know that it was empty. I wish I remembered his name because he couldn't have moved fast enough to make us some and he deserves a shout out! The Schmo's reply was simply "Oh, he did??" This guy needs to buy a vowel to get a clue. You advertise 24 hour coffee for goodness sake! Stop surfing Facebook on company time and do your job! Needless to say, we will not be revisiting this particular Ramada.
