“Adequate”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2012

Important positives are that the bed was comfortable and the shower was fine. Noise from the adjacent interstate and from other guests did not really bother us. The staff were a bit stretched, but to be fair, the hotel was extremely busy as the Sun N Fun airshow was taking place.
Negatives were that the decor badly needs updating, and the breakfast was poor both in quality and presentation. (It is not a "free" breakfast, you pay for it in the room rate). Wifi coverage was patchy - none at all in our room.

If I had to stay a night in Lakeland, and there was nothing else available, I'd be content to stay here again. But I am sure there would normally be better alternatives.

Room was good for the night and a good restful bed. Room was clean and spacious. WIFI worked. The noise came right through the walls: doors closing from hallway and other toilets flushing from nearby. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was ok for free and waffles and coffee were good.

Checked in on a Saturday night for a few nights, booked the room because it was close to the freeway and very accessible to the Tigers Stadium. Check in was a breeze and the front desk lady gentleman was very helpful and accommodating. I was pleasantly surprised when I entered the room as it felt very clean and spacious, for the price I really couldn't complain at all.
The next morning the wife and I was also taken back as they had a full hot breakfast setup with eggs, sausages and waffles! Apparently there is a full restaurant and lounge, the manager introduced himself to me and informed me that they were doing a special event with free cocktails that very same evening. Needless to say we throughly enjoyed our stay and the customer service was way above average for the price we paid.

Kudos to the staff at the Ramada Lakeland. We will for sure stay here again!

Was in lakeland for the Sun N Fun air show. Stayed one night and that was plenty. Hotel needs serious updating. Interstate noise is easily heard and breakast was what you expect for free. For a quick night over it will do but there have to be better options!

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from interstate

Very convenient for travelers as just off I4. Nothing much in the area, there is a IHOP and Denny's next door. A mile or so away is a shopping mall with all the usual names plus restaurants, but outside of walking distance. Rooms OK but the hotel is a little lackluster. Staff were friendly enough and the WiFi worked OK. Bed OK and room quiet. OK for a short stay if you're looking for a budget hotel but nit up to the old Ramada standards.

One of the best room rates in the area. It's just off I-4 & Hwy 98, so it's convenient for travellers. The area is a bit dull, but there's a mall and dozen chain restaurants (Olive Garden, Hooters, Chili's, Applebee's, etc) within a mile and a half.

They do have a decent pool, and a very small gym (4 machines & a TV). There's a bar attached, but it never seemed very lively there. The 'business center' was PC & printer in the corner of the lobby. I found soda and ice machines, but not one snack machine. There are 2 gas stations at the end of the parking lot, so snacks can be found there.

The room was adequate. It was not cramped, but the TV was a bit a dated and the bathroom was a little under-sized. The floor, while vacuumed, could have used a shampoo or steaming.

The staff was very friendly and the general experience was hassle-free. Overall, a good deal if you're just looking for a place to rest and be on your way.

I don't know how this hotel received any stars - maybe it was better at one time. We booked this with confidence thinking that a Ramada would have a minimum standard that we could live with - we couldn't have been more wrong.

The sheets on one of our beds were either dirty or stained. When we called at 10pm to get them changed we were told there was no one who could do that for us. We slept in the second bed in the room where the sheets appeared to be clean, but the bed was lumpy. Shampoo and conditioner bottles were half full - apparently used. Just disgusting. We were told by the front desk attendant that they use an outside firm for housekeeping so they "can't do anything about it."

Breakfast was advertised from 6 - 9, but most of it wasn't put out until 7 or later. This didn't help us as we were on business and needed to be on our way by 7. Toaster was broken one morning and staff complained that guests broke it.

We would have changed hotels if a room had been available. We will never go back. I don't usually write reviews, but this was truly the worst experience I've had at a hotel.
