“Great location,poor condition”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013

Great location in the centre of town, next to the lake, restaurants and the city park.
Parking is free at the parkade across from the hotel if you ask the front desk for the car window sign.
The entrance to the lobby has 3 narrow steps from the street that make entry with luggage difficult.
Our room on the 7th floor was a little small but we expect that in older buildings. The room was in need of repainting. There were many chips and marks on the walls.
We needed assistance from a bellboy to get the Internet connection to work.
We found the prices in the restaurant in the lobby too high, so we walked a few blocks and found reasonable places for breakfast and evening meals.
We did enjoy the Christmas parade sitting on chairs provided by the hotel on the sidewalk immediately outside the lobby.
Overall it was a nice stay on a special discount but it would not be worth the ordinary price.

Thank you kolenkiev for the review!
Feedback is important to us so that we can make the necessary changes if possible.
We do offer complimentary valet service at the Massachusetts Avenue entrance, in addition to, the complimentary parking in the parking garage across the street.
The Massachusetts Avenue entrance provides a stair case with railings, a handicap ramp, and valets to assist guests with luggage.
We do have a few rooms on the upper levels and city side of the hotel that have been remodeled and might be of interest to you if you stay with us again.
These rooms are an upgrade and usually require an up charge, however, we are in the process of making necessary upgrades to the additional rooms as needed.
We too love the great location and enjoy the many shops and restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.
We are thrilled to know you enjoyed the Christmas Parade that passes in front of the hotel and we greatly look forward to having the opportunity of hosting you again here at the Terrace Hotel!

Located in Historic Lakeland, the Terrace Hotel is well kept and pleasant. The lobby has a beautifully decorated huge live Christmas tree, and the lake/park across the street provided a nice place for a morning run.

The service staff was adequate, but despite a "Do Not Disturb Sign", the housekeeper burst into my room at 9:30 while I was on an important business call asking me if I was leaving soon.

The room was comfortable (bed) with a nice TV. The bathroom was tired and the freight train that passed through town at 12 and 2am was a bit tough to deal with.

The restaurant in the lobby was excellent.

Overall, good.

Thank you Colin S. for the review!

We have great news about the train if you decide to stay with us again!
The railroad crossings in Downtown Lakeland will become "quiet zones" and this should diminish the train noise greatly!
We do apologize about the disturbance during your call.
We greatly look forward to having the opportunity of hosting you again here at the Terrace Hotel!

Stayed here one night for an event, the cost seems ridiculous for the quality. The lobby was nice but the room was filthy. Dust everywhere, dirty and stained carpet, broken tiles and moldy shower. It looked as if the room hadn't been cleaned in months. The phone and clock were grimy and the TV extremely outdated, with scratches and nicks all over the furniture. Bed was uncomfortable at best. I wouldn't recommend, especially when you can get MUCH better quality at other hotels!

We apologize for the inconvenience.
We have added large flat screen TV's to the rooms and will continue to make other improvements.

The Terrace Hotel was a pleasant surprise. Beautifully restored lobby and dining room. Wonderfully decorated for the Holidays. Rooms were small but comfortable. Suites were better. One warning BEWARE of the trains which run all night. The train drivers compete to see who can blow the whistle the longest. All night long. Request a room on a lower floor facing hte parking garage for a night's sleep. In our first top floor room with a spectacular view we were kept awake all night. Staff is very understanding.

Our experience began with the complimentary valet parking. It was nice to not be nickled and dimed right at the door! Check in was very fast and friendly. The property is historic so that is interesting. The last refurbishment was in 1998 so a ittle wear and tear is beginning to show around the edges. We truly enjoyed the ambience, food, and service of the Grill. The Chilean Sea Bass was cooked perfectly. The view from room 88 was wonderful. It was a corner room so we could see the night time beauty of Lake Mirror out one side and the many city lights of North Lakeland out the other. Climate control worked well. The hotel is definitely not sound proofed either from the outside or from the adjoining room. It was easy to walk around the lake after dinner and fun to visit some local fun spots downtown too. Coffee and dessert at Fresco's was great and right around the corner. The saxofone and keyboard duo made for an entertaining hang out. We will definitely savor our memories of this nifty boutique property and will return again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing Lake Mirror for the best view. #88 was great! See if they will give you a ro...

So downtown Lakeland is something I never appreciated and the location of the hotel is perfect for walking in the cute and quaint downtown area. The rooms on the other hand, are really something from 30 years ago. The tv for example was something from the 80's and I joked with my friends that the business center was the old dial up.

I didn't think the employees were rude- and the valet staff were really attentive and nice. I probably won't go again but appreciated the location.

Room Tip: Ask for suite- those looked much nicer and had more up to date items in there.

We have upgraded the wifi to the fastest possible. According to Brighthouse our internet and network provider. You could run 3 PDA's in every room and the system would not slow down.

The Televisions have been upgraded to 42 Flat Screen LED's with 1080 and 120hz.

Stayed here as it was close to the venue my daughter was getting married at. The morning of check in I called to let them know we would be checking in late and also asked if they could possibly make sure we had a nice room as the bride and bridesmaids would be getting ready there and the newly wed couple would spend the second night there. Needless to say the room was pretty shabby looking. The are rug looked dirty and the leather desk chair was falling apart. The front desk personnel is not very friendly or helpful. The maid on our floor though was very nice and helpful. Lakeland is a charming little town and this hotel with a little refurbishing and better front desk help would be a perfect place to stay,

Room Tip: avoid south side as a bar around the corner can be quite noisy
