“Great Dining Experience.....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2012

Now, normally, hotel restaurants are good at best ...some better than others. And then there's the occasional "excellent" restaurant that you walk into in a hotel. This was one of those!!! I purposely sampled all three seatings (breakfast, lunch & dinner) while there and all were done at near perfection levels. Rarely do you find a restuarant of this caliber in a hotel. So please, do yourself a favor if staying here......have your meals here!!!

Breakfast was done so, so right....fresh squeezed orange juice, bread & jams made fresh....in-house. My dinner (roast Rack of Lamb) was the 2nd best version I have ever had.....2nd only to one I had in Ireland. Tender, succulent & pleasantly seasoned with fresh herbs.....excellent choice....as I'm sure all entrees are that are created by this inventive chef.

Staff could not have been more accommodating and welcoming. Kudos to Jessica, April, Sofia & Haydee......All excellent!!! And the restaurant is also one of the most calming restaurants that I've had the pleasure to take a meal in....great architectural detail & ambiance!! Looking forward to my next visit to the Terrace Hotel & more enjoyable moments & great meals in the Grille.............

“New York Prices in Lakeland?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2012

Friends of ours recently got married and we wanted to take them out for a nice dinner to celebrate. We live in Fort Lauderdale and were driving to Northern Florida for vacation. They live in Polk City which was along our route of travel. Not being familiar with the Lakeland / Polk area restaurants, we used TripAdvisor to research restaurants in nearby cities to find an upscale place to take them. We settled on The Terrace Grille since it is located in an historic building which is The Terrace Hotel as there were very few restaurants that appeared to be upscale.

From what we read and encountered, it appears that business is VERY slow in the summer time and especially mid week. We were only one of two parties in the entire dining room at 7pm on a Wednesday.

The dining room was not as elegant as what I imagined. Actually the elevators are in clear view of all the tables.

The appetizers and entrees were "good" but NOT worth the prices they charge. $14 for a VERY SMALL appetizer of seared tuna. VERY VERY SMALL. $38 for just 4 lamb chops described as rack of lamb.

I don't mind paying for something if it is outstanding and worth it. Considering the location, the place is WAY overpriced and nothing justifies paying those prices as there is nothing that special about it.

“Excellent food every time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2012

We've come here for lunch when visiting a relative at least twice a year for about five years. Each time it was excellent. One visit on a Saturday in May we didn't make a reservation and had to wait because of parents visiting college graduation and a baby shower luncheon. Make a reservation. The room does get a bit loud when it is full but not too bad. They do have a separate room at one end that can seat 20+ or so for a private event.

The lunch prices are a better deal than dinner but if the quality is as good at dinner the prices are justified. They go the extra mile with high quality ingredients, excellent preparation, and great presentation. Check out their April 1 - November 30 dining card if you live in the area.

We've had the Black Angus burger twice. It is quite large and served on a nice bun. This time the fries were soggy. We should have sent them back. Twice I've had the Arugula Salad with grilled pork tenderloin. The pork was slightly pink which was fine for me but if it matters to you, tell them. The salad is more food than what one might expect. The club sandwich his huge--really the equivalent of TWO LARGE sandwiches. Also a winner. Some time ago I had the crab cakes and they were great and having lived in Maryland I know good crab cakes. We've had other main course things and they were great but can't remember what.

We had the ice cream oriel cookie dessert which was excellent and very large. The cream caramel was delicious and fortunately not so large. Our friends who live in Florida said that the Key Lime pie was excellent. It was an individual miniature round pie.

Others agree that this is the best restaurant between Tampa and Disney World. Chain restaurants are about the only other option and this is far better than any of them.

“Very nice atmosphere”

One of Lakeland's best locations. Classic and classy historic hotel downtown. Food is very good. A little over priced but one of Lakeland's nicer locations.
