For a pier restaurant catering to a beach crowd, Benny's did a good job. The food was good and views were outstanding. The waiters and waitresses were friendly. There were 6 in our group. We began at an outside table, but by the time the waitress brought our drinks a fierce wind stirred up so we moved inside. She took that change in stride, and it was good we did because the wind turned quickly into rain. Small things were overlooked, like not bringing ketchup to the table, or missing a side order of french fries. The fries took so long to arrive I just asked to have them in a doggie bag to bring home. The waitress explained that they were down to one frying machine working. I am glad she said that because it made the long wait more understandable. One person in my group ordered a lobster salad stuffed inside an avocado shell. What she had was good, but the avocado shell was very small, and thus so was the amount of lobster salad. Another person had a cheeseburger and it was the opposite: huge! I had fish and chips and (at least the fish part of the dish) was outstanding. The breading was so light you hardly knew it was there, the fish was white and thick, cooked perfectly. My friends knew someone who worked there and apparently Benny's is known for the fish and chips. They deserve the good reputation for them! Overall a good dining experience.
