The incredible preserved photos and write ups show the elegance and prestige of this property in it's day and time. So worth the trip to see the property and view the photos. I just learned that Chalet Suzanne is closing. After some 80 years of service. . Yes, it does requires a major remodeling-restoration project but it still carries it grandeur. It is a bit expensive to dine here..but if you can go, do go and see this property before it closes. I am glad that we did. The broiled grapefruit and chicken livers is delicious. The famous moon soup s tasty--- but do know it is a small puree portion in a cigarette type ceramic bowl. Unusual but lovely in presentation. Very light to consume and simple. . The frittata is a very large portion of eggs with a bit of spinach and cheese. Two could eat for one frittata. The hot beef sandwich is a large portion...bread is plain and a bit lacking.. I must say. The shrimp and grits is good...with a table side touch to quick prep for you-- that is nice. Steaks are good...and our guest said it was the best choice on menu from all the items selected and tried of each others food. Desserts are very rich--- so one can go a long way, The chocolate Meringues is extremely rich and has a dry crunchy texture. Not what I expected. The rum pie was very tasty but I did not taste any rum...but still wonderful flavors...more like a cheesecake almost. Do, please, try this place before it closes...the ambiance, the antiques and nostalgia are worth the money spent to see and experience. Oh, please look for the extraordinary stain glass window from about 1890 in time...from a farm house in Germany with the star of David right in the middle. It is amazingly beautiful. Oh, how I would love to own that window. I still think about it's beauty. I would cherish it for certain.
There are colorful, lovely designed tiles from all over the world that are inlaid in the walls. Everywhere you look, is something to marvel ...and the uniqueness causes your mind to drift & imagine --back to a date long ago & time remembered for it's life styles --truly of... the rich and famous. For a moment, you also feel like a movie star, a prince, a princess or a world known figure in the midst of a beautiful people in a lovely Swiss Alps Chalet setting. Oh, where is my pilot, airplane and the runway--I should be leaving now. Smile...enjoy the trip. Eve if it is only in ones dreams.
