“Convenient & comfortable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2012

I stayed here on a recent weekend getaway and it definitely served the purpose ... far removed from the southeast Florida ratrace! Although these are not top-notch accommodations, the room was clean and it was just what the doctor ordered for me since I just wanted to "get away from it all" and decompress.

One cautionary note - I made the mistake of opening the sliding glass door and it was a real struggle getting it to close all the way again. Also, as others have commented, I discovered that there are no screens.

"Breakfast" was a disappointment (pre-packaged vending machine quality muffins, cereal etc.) but the coffee was good and it was fun chatting with a group of hang gliding enthusiasts who happened to be staying for the weekend.

All you can see from Route 80 is a sign: "Port Labelle Inn." The inn itself is far off the highway, tucked away in what used to be a golf resort, now converted to peaceful cow pastures. The inn is located on an old oxbow of the Caloosahatchee River, no longer part of the "main" river since it was straightened for navigation by the Army Corps of Engineers.

We were there for a bird festival in March 2012. Having made reservations months earlier (at a special low rate), we were discouraged to hear that our reservation was lost - but no matter, they had extra "emergency" rooms available. What a great emergency - we lucked into a huge 2-room suite with a kitchenette, comfortable living room with giant flat-screen TV, and a cozy bedroom with a 2nd TV - all overlooking those beautiful pastures. Four days here? No problem!

We ate at the Oxbow Grill the first night, and it was just fine, with a nice (if not particularly fancy) menu and friendly service.

The continental breakfast is nothing to write home about, but an omelet station was set up one morning, which was fantastic.

The pool was a little chilly in March but most enjoyable, crystal clear and spotlessly clean. We appreciated that. Housekeeping in the room was also great, as was the front desk help.

While we visited the hotel for a convention, I would not hesitate to recommend it, and we may even return from NJ, just because!

Room Tip: See if the suites are available - they are huge and so comfortable!

Since my partner and I purchased some acreage between Clewiston and LaBelle in early December 2011, we've had the opportunity to stay at the Port LaBelle Inn at least 6 times. Each time the room and service was very satisfactory.. We took advantage of the convenience of the Oxbow Grille and found the food to be fine and prices to be reasonable. It is well worth it to dine there rather than drive around looking for somewhere else to eat. In our experience, there is no better place to eat in LaBelle than the Oxbow Grille, unless you are looking for fast food!

Pleasantly surprised at quality of food and service, particularly considering the low prices and location in the boondocks of Hendry County - ou party of 4 enjoyed excellent meals

We've stayed at the Prot Labelle Inn annually for almost 19 years. We've seen it in it's hayday and, sadly on the skids. We were delighted whenafter soitting for several years closed and boarded up, the new owners bought the place and did some rennovations and reopened the place. Last year, when we were here, the hotel was good but the restaurant and bar were terrible. This year we found the restaurant and bar were great and the hotel is back on the decline. First, our room was musty and moldy smelling. We discovered that the maid was not changing our sheets daily and the sheets they were using were thread bare and well-worn. Even though the weather was geat for sleeping there are no screens on either the sliding door or window. We opened the window once and our room filled up with every type of creepy crawly you can imagine. The breakfast buffet was a joke. The food was vending macine type stuff (i.e., sweet rolls in a plastic bag, cereal in a plastic cup and energy bars) but, without the vendo-matic. The eating area was a mess. On our second day, I confronted the desk clerk about how filthy and dirty the area was; tables with dried food and stains, dirty floors with food all over the floor under the tables. I was concerned if the eating area was so disgusting then how was the buffet area maintained. Don't get me wrong, the restaurant and bar were great and the staff in these two places could not have been better. But, I got zero response or even reaction from the female desk clerk. I went in the exercise area and got a hand towel - which I soaked in water and cleaned our table myself.
So, they need the business but, they need to get their act together and offer one level of great service and not this on-again-off-again stuff. Keep the bar and restaurant going and get the hotel up to a level that is on par with a hotel of this size and location.

Room Tip: No tips on the best rooms. Maybe overlooking the pand in back so you can watch the alligators?

There's not that much to choose from, but this was a pleasant surprise. A little hard to find, but glad to be here. Nice staff, ask for a room overlooking the "fountain". Off the beaten path does offer a little relaxation. Bar & Grill is not open every night so check out Forrey Grill and then come back to a comfy bed and great pillows for a good night sleep. Don't expect a flat screen TV, but it was a spacious comfortable room.

The hotel personnel was really nice, everybody was helpful and friendly. Two needs they need to work on:
1. The room we got was very clean, we stayed in the hotel for 15 days, the cleanliness of the room diminished with time, they should provide the same level at all times, specially in the bathroom.
2. Their wireless internet was very bad. It was very hard to get a connection, and even when we did, we got drop every couple of minutes. We ended up just going down to the lobby and using the computer they had there.
