My family of 4 (2 adults & 2 kids aged 11 & 6) stayed for 6 nights at this hotel in January 2009. I read all the reviews and was most impressed. I have to say that I wasn't disappointed at all when we arrived there. The hotel is close to the Disney Parks (about 10-15 minutes by free shuttle), which was the main reason I booked there. They also offer a free hot breakfast daily which was great! Most reviews say that the breakfast room filled up quickly but we didn't see that as we were always there just after 7am each day. Free shuttles to Disney departed at 8am, 10am and 12:30pm daily. The hotel also offered free shuttles to return in the evening but these buses filled to the absolute maximum and could take up to 1 hour to get back to the hotel. This was not so great but we did it for 5 days as we didn't have our own car.
Hotel is very clean, beds are comfortable and staff very nice to deal with. Our 1 bedroom suite was on the 6th floor and contained 2 queen sized beds in the one room and a kitchenette. A day into our stay, we realised that we really wanted a separate room for the adults so we enquired at the front desk as to the possibility of changing rooms. They couldn't have been more hospitable and found us an amazing 2 room suite with KSB and pull out sofa in separate room. We had 2 huge bathrooms and a great view of the pool (which unfortunately we never got to use as we spent all our time at the Disney Parks!).
The rooms are huge, plenty of space to move around even with 6 suitcases! The only complaint I have is that you would expect a room with a kitchenette to have the basic essential items, (plates, utensils, glasses etc.. ) available for its guests to use. But there was NOT A THING in the cupboards and drawers, so we had to purchase disposable items from the nearest supermarket.
There also isn't a lockable safe in the room which meant that I had to lock our personal documents and cash in our suitcase. The safe is in the cupboard as they advertise but there isn't a lock on it (I found this to be the case in both the rooms we stayed in, so perhaps they want their guests to use a safe in their lobby).
The hotel is located just behind "Old Town" which is an amusement park that comes to life in the evenings. There is a Red Lobster restaurant about 1 minute walk away - really great staff and delicious food (highly recommended). On the highway nearby are many chain restaurants like Ponderosa (inexpensive & edible), Pacino's (Italian, so-so food) and many others.
On the night of our arrival we took a cab to the Premium outlet mall (20 minutes by cab) and stayed there until 10:30pm (most nghts it's open until 11pm). There are a lot of really good stores there and you an pick up a good bargain if you have the energy to sift through it all.
We purchased our 5 day Disney tickets at the tours counter at the hotel. It saved us the long lines at Disney itself and allowed us to walk right in.
Just remember that in Orlando everything is far away (in distance) so unless you have your own car , definitely take a cab! I needed to see a doctor during our stay and was told that the nearest medical centre was down the road. Down the road is actually 20-30 minutes by cab, so don't be fooled.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again if we returned in the future.
