Stayed 8 days just before Christmas. Excellent location - close enough to all parks (we had a hire car so self-driving, no experience of hotel shuttles although they were available). Very easy to locate all the main attractions we wanted.
The locality is perfect; if you have no transport or just want somewhere close to go/eat; there are a multitude of eateries within walking distance (and I mean not very far at all - we were walking with a 2 year old and a 3 year old!); some including a play-park (i.e. Burger King and McDonalds have the large children's play areas); there's "Fun Spot USA", a reasonably priced funfair, across the road; and Old Town Kissimmee around the corner has a few quirky shops, rides and bars/cafes to spend a bit of time in; and a classic car parade every weekend too.
A lot of the local eating establishments deliver/do take-away also; and since there's a fridge and microwave in the rooms, this can be handy when traveling with a family!
The hotel provided an excellent selection of all sorts for its complimentary breakfast bar every morning; perfect to set the family up for the day (and the coffee was continuously available 24 hours).
There were a few handy facilities within the hotel itself - a pool and spa-pool outside; a small games room containing some arcade-style games; a small shop with some gifts and sundries if there was anything forgotten; a small gym (available 24 hours to over 18s but obtain key from front desk); a guest laundry on every floor with generously sized and functional, coin-operated washer and dryer; which was great as we were there for quite a few days and out and about a lot; so the children did end up with a few things needing a rinse/dry.
Despite the decor being a little out-dated, the hotel areas and our room were comfortable, clean and in good repair (if a little tired and scuffed around corners and table legs and so on)
There's an 'information' desk in the foyer who are authorised to sell tickets to the attractions (we got our Disney tickets and Sea World tickets from them); although they will try and talk you into the time-share thing also; so be wary - as with any ticket outlet you find!
The gentleman who checked us in at the beginning of our trip; and a young lady who was manning the information desk when we were leaving; were both extremely jolly, helpful and friendly (the information girl even gave my children some crayons and Disney Christmas pictures to colour in); they both left a good impression and we didn't encounter any miserable or off-putting staff at all.
Only downer on our trip was that the last couple of days were immediately before Christmas (we left on Christmas Eve); and the hotel was getting fuller and fuller, with Christmas coming; coaches in the car park; and a wedding party booked in. It suddenly got a lot busier throughout the breakfast period from 7am through to 10am; and the corridors became very very noisy outside the room quite late into the evening and from quite early in the morning.
Obviously a full hotel is in the management's best interest; and understandable that this was a busy period; combined with the local attractions being such that anticipation of visiting them would produce some extreme excitement whilst getting up early to have breakfast and catch the early shuttle; however, short of some major sound-proofing renovations, suggest investing in some polite signage reminding patrons that other guests may be sleeping.
Another feature that could be useful would be a play area for smaller children too young for the games/arcade room (for example swing/slide/climbing frame?) - I did see mention in one of the guest books of a children's splash area outside, but could not see it near the pool and spa.
