“Great large rooms close to disney parks”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2013 via mobile

Stayed here in October very large rooms we had 2 double beds and still loads of room. Beds made every day and room cleaned every day. We parked our rental car right outside our room. Just on the main road off the i4 highway and only 10 minutes from animal kingdom perfect place to stay if visiting disney. Just next door a supermarket and minutes walk from the hotel is all the food restaurants you need there's stake houses, mcdonalds, Jenny, IHOP all you can think off. It's much closer than staying on international drive if you are going to the disney parks. It has swimming pools although we didn't use them, laundry rooms, and a restaurant for breakfast also a Pizza Hut inside the hotel. Would stay there again and I would recommend it to anyone. We hired a car at the airport the hotel runs a shuttle bus to the theme parks but I think it's only once a day so I would recommend hiring a car if staying here.

We checked in after reading all the reviews. Sure enough, our first room revealed bugs crawling over the mattress and the phone, which worked so poorly I could not hear the front desk person. They quickly offered to move us to a different room, which we accepted only to find the water was not warm. We told the front desk person three days in a row about this problem. Their response seemed scripted. Finally we found the maintenance man ourselves and were told he never fixed it because our do not disturb sign on the room (which we had to make ourselves as they don't have them available). Fair enough so he went to the room while we watched and attempted to fix it. We were told that the water temperature was as warm as it was going to get at this particular property. I don't mind but it is too cold for my girlfriend to shave her legs without getting goosebumps and that will not fly. They offered us a different room but given the risk of getting a bug room we declined. I understand this is a budget establishment but don't charge a $10 resort fee for what could generously be described as a 'camping' experience. We found hair on the towels before we touched them. The only way this will be righted is to recoup the $10 nightly resort fee. As you can see from the other reviews, the management will probably reply and say something about how this is an unusual guest experience and they will offer to make it right. Let's see if they do.

Room Tip: Check the mattress for bugs, check your water for temp, check your rate and add $10/night

Dear Lex H: We appreciate your review and value your feedback. We would also like to extend our sincere apologies for any troubles you may have encountered. As you stated, we may mention that this is unusual, and indeed it is very unusual as we have a professional pest control company that regularly services our guestrooms. We would like the opportunity to discuss your stay with you further and make this right. Please do not hesitate to contact the hotel and ask for myself, the Director of Operations, and I will be more than happy to discuss your stay with you. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Very pleased with the value of this motel. Very close to Disney Parks and everything else in Orlando/Kissimmee areas. The best part was it is pet friendly which is difficult I not impossible to find at Disney with only the campground as an option. The rooms were a little out of date and in rough shape but they were clean and well worth the price. I plan to go back again. The restaurant and bar on site were nice and the pool area is great.

The hotel was acceptable and the breakfast buffet was a definite plus while not included it was an excellent deal. Check-In and Check-Out was a smooth process even though we had to alter the booking slightly. The refund for the time not used via the reservation was credited by the Hotel and Hotels.Com simply.

This was a value for the trip and the resort is conveniently located.

We stayed at this hotel during the last 2 weeks of October. We turned up late on a Saturday night and staff at the reception desk were friendly and welcoming. We got to the room and started unpacking and discover a bug crawling on the wall near the door. I threw it out and thankfully it was an isolated incident. The rooms are ok nothing amazing basic room with a tv, small fridge/freezer coffee maker, iron and hairdryer...and free Wifi very good signal from room. We came to Orlando for the Theme parks and shopping. The location is great lots of resaurants nearby and the the theme parks and shopping outlets are no more of than a 15-20min drive away. The hotel was pretty quiet when we stayed and the pool was empty most days our room did not face the pool and was in block 15. Aircon was very noisy so we would cool the room down before going to sleep and then turn it off. The hotel was ideal for our needs, you get what you pay for if you want someone where cheap to stay this is ideal. The only odd thing is the 10 dollar daily service charge which doesn't really make sense which the hotel really should really reconsider. I've done a youtube video of the hotel grounds / pool and room check it out. Search youtube for 'Maingate Lakeside Resort (Kissimmee, Florida) - Walking around Hotel grounds/Pool/Room in HD'

Room Tip: We had a room in blook 15 facing away from the pool and was very quiet.

Stayed here from 16th October to 30october 2013. We had two rooms next door to each other as my parents came on holiday with us.
We have been to this area many times staying at different properties and for the last 3 trips stayed at the continental plaza on the opposite side of the lake.
Maingate lakeside is a beautiful hotel.
We loved the pool area where we spoke to lots of friendly guests.
The rooms were bigger than we were used to ,basic but clean. Yes the TV was old but who wants to worry about that when you are in Orlando !!!!
We bought a kettle in walgreens for $16 but there was a coffee maker in the room , this was our own choice because it was easier when making tea/coffee for 6.
Able to walk to walgreens and a couple of the eating places in the area.
One afternoon we were all swimming in the pool and what looked liked a manager was walking round. He appeared happy as people were sunbathing /swimming , kids playing basketball, people having a drink and a laugh at the pool bar and one family we're having a little birthday tea in the pool area with cake, drinks and had even decorated the table for the occasion.
Everyone making the most of what's on offer.

We will be recommending this lovely hotel to friends and hope to return ourselves when we will request a poolview room.

Thankyou for a wonderful stay at your hotel x

My sister booked us into this hotel based on it being close to the Disney parks and incredible value compared to many others. I spent two nights there but, honestly, I wouldn't do it again. The rooms were actually okay but the public areas - especially the outside corridors you use to access your room - were very dirty and unkempt. Despite the discarded rubbish/debris, there were also a discarded towel on the lawn (really - and it was not picked up in the time I was there).
There was a very odd/unattractive smell around the outside of the property at the time I visited.

The lobby/restaurant area was significantly better than the rear/outside of the hotel but my recommendation would be, if you can afford to spend literally $20 more per night, then there are a myriad of other better quality hotels I would stay at. Especially if I were taking my kids.
