“Fantastic budget hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013 via mobile

If you want a great budget hotel then this is for you. It's close to Disney and many restaurants. The family rooms are great, and large. they have two televisions, both with satellite channels. You get a comfy double bed and bunk beds which are separated by a dividing wall so you get privacy from your children, even though they are still in your room. You also get a fully equipped bathroom with a nice power shower.
We have been to Disney 4 times, 2 times as a family and this is the biggest room we have stayed in and cost the least. All I will say is ask to stay at the rear of the hotel as it is on the main artery road through Kissimmee and the road is noisy. Parking in the hotel is ample and we never had a problem getting a space. This hotel rates highly and if you don't mind staying in Kissimmee then this will be a great choice and you won't be disappointed.

Stayed at the Holiday Inn Main Gate East, and had a great time. Meals for our business meeting week (Feb. 1st - 9th) was very good as I heard several compliments of how good the food was. Rooms was clean and all the staff was very friendly! We will be back next year.

Be ready that at the last day of ur stay u will be getting a bill for resort fee of 5.99 per day, under ur door...which was never mentioned during the booking!
Prepare yourself for not getting the room you asked for and getting whatever is available...

People at front desk not caring about customer setisfations and and future references, making it seem like they are busy enough and they don't need you to come back..

Good luck ....

We stayed here for 2 days in February 2012. We arrived an hour early for check in due to driving up from Ft. Lauderdale. We were told the room was not ready yet, which was fine, and was told to return in an hour and it will be ready. So we checked our bags in and went to do some things locally. We returned after an hour to be told that the room was still not available as the cleaners hadn't got to it. We were again told to return in an hour. We return after another hour to be told again that the room was still not available, even though we were told it would be ready by 4pm 'Guaranteed'. By this point we were getting very fed up and wasting a lot of our time. The women at front desk apologized and gave us 2 free drinks while we waited. When we FINALLY got the keys, we then had to wait a further 20 minutes to get the bell guy to fetch our bags. He then said he'd bring them up for us. After another 30 minutes the bags finally arrived.
The room was large and nice, to a normal Holiday Inn Standard. The beds were big and comfortable and the bathroom was large, though very little storage space. There wasn't a wardrobe, just a gap in the wall between the door and the bathroom. The safe was in the bathroom, which was just weird. Our room had a balcony, which over looked the Motel 6 and a car park, which was a little bleak and a little loud. The room has the old style air con unit which was really noisy but it did the job. There is a good TV, fridge and microwave.
We didn't really explore the hotel much, but it looked nice enough. The pool was almost always in the shade, but that's partly due to the angle of the sun being lower in the winter.
As Platinum Priority Club members, we received 2 free drinks, free breakfast and a scratch card, we won breakfast for 2, which we got free anyway so we got it swapped for 1 drink.
The location was nice, right by Old Town Kissimmee, all the restaurants and bars, as well as free shuttle access to Disney.
This hotel DOES have a resort fee. There is nothing I hate more than resort fee but it gets you Wifi, parking, gym access and the shuttles (The Holiday Inn on Hotel Plaza BLVD gives you all these for free accept the parking)
Overall, it's not a bad hotel. The rooms definitely sell the place. Though as Priority Club members, we really expected a lot better service than what we got. On that note, I don't think I would return to this hotel which other better options available.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony room.

Our room 2130 was near the employee entrance on the ground floor. It looked worn out and the low ceiling in the bathroom made it feel like I was in a basement. Only one lamp worked, on another the lampshade was torn. Decorative curtains hanging down. Slow internet. Broken toilet paper holder and shampoo holder in the bathroom and severe lack of outlets in the room. Only a tiny fridge, no micowave. Then had audacity to charge a resort fee...it was laughable. The term resort implies a top notch facility, this is not such a property. I am a platinum member and this hotel is a disgrace to the priority club. The only benefit was location. It was close to disney and across the street from Old Town. Close to shops and restaurants, but hard not to be when staying in Orlando area. Was overall very disapointed in the stay and will not stay here again. Oh, and the resort fee was not mentioned to me at check-in and I was staying here supposedly free to attend the holiday inn vacation club timeshare presentation.

We would like to thank you for your recent stay with us and for taking the time to review our property. We would also like to thank you for being a Platinum Priority Club Rewards Member. We would like to apologize that we did not meet your expectations during your stay. Our hotel is a full service Holiday Inn property which means we offer free wifi, in room safe pool, hot tub, fitness center, and transportation to all of the Disney Theme parks. The hotel resort fee goes toward maintaining all of these amenities so that they remain free to all of our hotel guests throughout their stay. We hope that in the future you will give us another opportunity to exceed your expectations. We will use your feedback to make any necessary changes that will help improve and enhance the overall guest experience. Please feel free to contact our hotel General Manager Mr. Brad Boland @ 407-396-4222 to discuss your feedback.

As someone who will spend about 100 nights this year in hotels I've learn to anticipate what to expect when I visit a particular brand's properties. This one was a letdown.

I've stayed at this property several times over the last 15 years for family vacations. While a quick visual inspection reveals good maintenance, a more thorough look shows a lack of details.

We were at this property for a small business meeting. The room was clean and had the usual amenities and there was nothing glaringly out of place. The first little annoyances became apparent with the first use of the bathroom. When turning on the bathroom light we were greeted by the sound of the exhaust fan. It sounded somewhat like a DC-3 winding up for take off. When joking about this with other guests we found that this was common throughout the property. There were more than a few anxious moments as we found that the door knob on the inside of the bathroom spun freely making unlocking the door to get out kind of a hit or miss proposition.

Holiday Inn, as a chain, has made the unfortunate decision to replace the comfortable normal bed pillows that one would expect with these trendy oversized "throw" pillows. Several other chains have done this and while they make the presentation of the bed look chic they are all but useless for resting your head on to sleep as you are constantly rolling off of the foolish things.

We tried on the first morning to call the front desk to complain about the bathroom door and ask for replacement pillows as the in-room guide said that other pillow options were available. The phones were out. When we finally did get back through to the front desk they took the maintenance request for the door knob and said that they would ask housekeeping to deliver the pillows. While the door knob was fixed in short order, four additional calls and a visit to the front desk was required to get what amounted to more chicklet style pillows.

There is not a full service restaurant on premises. There is instead a "food court" that is only open for limited hours. Mid day coffee was not available. The catered meal had a choice of some type of over salted pork loaf or braised beef that was largely inedible. The catered "event" in the courtyard under the canopy was poorly executed with long lines for food being prepared on an undersized grill as the maintenance staff tried to find a plug for the lights under the tent. Amateur hour.

The heater in the jacuzzi was broken on our first day resulting in a 70 degree jacuzzi.

While the property is not a disaster, I expect more from a Holiday Inn. At this rate I expect to see a Ramada flag on their door shortly.

On behalf of all of us here at the Holiday Inn Main Gate East we would like to thank you for your recent stay with us and for taking the time to give us your feedback regarding your stay. We would like to sincerely apologize for not exceeding your expectations throughout your stay. We would however like to share with you that our hotel is continually updating the property to make our guests stay as pleasant and enjoyable as possible and that we have just finished updating our hotel telephone system which during the upgrade may have caused a brief interruption in our hotel telephone service. We would like to also inform you that our food court is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and we do offer coffee, tea, and other beverages in the food court for purchase as we are a full service property, however all of our rooms do include a coffee maker and coffee at no cost along as a variety of additional amenities that are available to all of our guests throughout their stay. Again, we sincerely apologize for any inconveniences that you had during your stay and we will use your feedback to help make the necessary improvements to our property that will enhance the overall guest experience. We hope that in the future you will give us the chance to not only meet your expectations, but exceed them. Please feel free to contact our hotel General Manager Mr. Brad Boland @ 407-396-4222 to discuss your feedback.

This hotel is nice looking on the outside but needs lots of help on the inside. Our room, 1323, which we thought was a standard room had a full size bed instead of a queen and a full set of bunk beds in it.I could hardlly turn around in it. Our mattess needed to be replaced years ago. We both fell into the middle while trying to sleep. This room is out dated and in poor condition. This place is old and in dire need of remodeling. The staff was very polite and helpful and the front desk person, Dale, was excellent. The restaurant ended up being a Pizza Hut and an A&W. No full service restaurant here. This place stays booked because of it's proximately to Disney and all the attractions. If I were to come to the area again I would defiantly look elsewhere for a room.

Thank you for taking the time to write about your recent stay at our hotel. We are truly sorry to hear that your hotel experience did not live up to our usual standard of expectation and excellence. After reviewing your feedback, we have investigated the issues you described with your room and have resolved the identified problems. The room you described is one of our Kid’s Suite rooms and is most often used by families with children. I apologize that we did not recommend a different type of accommodation as we also have King Leisure and Deluxe Queen rooms. It sounds as if one of these would have been more suited for your stay and I am sorry one of these was not recommended or available.

In regard to our food offerings, we have found that due to our close proximity to Disney and the local attractions, many of our guests enjoy being able to eat a quick meal at our Pizza Hut or A&W in our food court. In addition to these, we also offer a full breakfast buffet each morning for the more leisurely guest and again, I apologize if you were not made aware of this during your stay.

It is our goal to ensure that every guest is satisfied by both our accommodations and service and it is clear that we fell short of this expectation during your stay. I hope that you will consider giving us another try on your next visit to the Orlando area. Feel free to contact me if you have further concerns or suggestions at 405-396-4222 or brad.boland@whg.com.
