“Great location and great property!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

We stayed while visiting Disney and it was a perfect location. So close to Disney! Great pool, baby pool, and bar/grill. I used the treadmill in the workout room once and it worked well. We enjoyed the screened in porch and the property was always fairly quiet. The tub in the master bath was GREAT! The shower in the master bath isn't as great. The faucet was pretty awful and just kind of hung out of the wall. Not great but I guess it got the job done. We would definitely stay here again (it was a last minute timeshare exchange).

Everyone was so helpful, from the lovely girl at check in, to the lady doing crafts by the pool to the two guys behind the bar. Rooms were clean and well equipped.
Handy shops and places to eat near by.

We are owners of a timeshare at Parkway and we love it! Great location for theme parks and Downtown Disney. Lots of shopping and restaurants in the area. Starbucks is open 24 hours and within walking distance. Pool is great and rooms are clean and very comfortable!

There were a very nice pool and you could easily walk to the beach and "downtown" etc. The staff were very helpful and we just love the view from our room. We stayed here for 3 daysWe had a great time and will definitely stay here again ;-)

The units are nice overall even though this is an older resort. The pool area is beautiful. The tile floors were nice, the beds were really comfortable, and there was rear door access to the pool as well as a great view of the pool area. Its great to have a little laundry unit to use. It's VERY close to Disney parks, which is huge!
There were some issues, though. The lights are really dark. The whirlpool tub didn't work, which isn't a big deal, BUT ... If you are on vacation, that is something you look forward to. There are extra charges if you want o use Internet. Also, I noticed that dishwasher detergent and laundry soap cost extra if you use more than the original few packets given at check in. The front desk said we could have our room cleaned once, but the Manuel in the condo said there are charges. We didn't have our room cleaned, but make sure you ask before signing up or ordering anything. Also, the free breakfast they sign you up for is a "hey, buy a condo, breakfast". It wasn't bad, only an hour and a half, and we did get a free gift ($80 Visa card or you could get Arabian Nights tickets). But, if you don't want to sit through that, just say NO! Lastly, the nature trails look pretty cool in the pictures, but are pretty scary! (Old, rotting, and patched together). After my husband and I walked on them, we didn't allow the kids to go on them.

I want to agree with most of these other reviewers and their comments as those were the impressions we had the first three times we stayed here. We had similar experiences as they - very helpful staff, love the pool, and close proximity to the Disney theme parks and several restaurants.

However, although we put in our reservation almost six months prior to arrival (we were guests, not owners of a timeshare), we were assigned a room in a building all the way in the back of the complex and the view from our screened in porch was of the wall of the nieghboring building on the right half and high-tension power lines to the left. We called requesting a different room, but were told none were available the entire week of our visit although the parking lot at the time was relatively empty on our Friday arrival. Granted, by Saturday evening it was packed.

There is a cute and attractive neon sign above the registration office that we immediately recognized from prior visits. This beacon normally brings out a burst of excitement from the family that we have finally arrived at our destination, but this year it was almost sad because most of the neon letters were burnt out. Instead of Resort CheckIn, only Res and In were lit up.

As we were moving in and unpacking, we turned on the television in the master bedroom. After only 10 minutes we discovered we couldn't adjust the volume. Then we couldn't change the channels. Then, we couldn't even turn it off, not even with the remote or the button on the side of the TV. And we couldn't reach the cord to simply unplug it and it is encased in a very large corner dresser that we couldn't move. A phone call to maintenance resulted in someone coming about 30 minutes later and taking the television away, then bringing another one which did work.

The online brochures and descriptions depict a beatiful master bath, with whirlpool tub and separate tiled shower. Moving in we are fought over who was going to get to use the tub first, and we all wanted to experience the gorgeous glass and tile shower stall. After driving all day, and being tired and sweaty unpacking I thought I would soak my sore neck and shoulders a little so turned on the water to the whirlpool tub. About 15 minutes later I had less than an inch of water in the tub. I waited another five minutes, played with the water a bit, but that was about the best it was going to get. I turned the water off, and really hating to waste what water had already been collected, drained it out and turned on the shower instead - the beautiful, glass and tile-enclosed shower. The water coming out of the water-saver shower head didn't have enough pressure to spray even 1/2-way over the shower. It barely dribbled out of the shower head. I called maintenance back, he looked at both and said that is the way they all work and that is the best it would do. So here is the beautiful, large, tiled master bathroom with large glass-nclosed shower and whirlpool tub, both of which were totally useless and went unused all week because the master shower trickle of water wasn't enough to rinse the shampoo out of my hair, and I am a balding 50+ male, let alone shampoo and conditioner for my wife! The entire family shared time using the shower in the guest bathroom the entire week instead.

Since I couldn't use the in-room whirl-pool tub, I decided to go sit in the hot tub by the pool. I suited up, and because we were all the way in the back, decided to get to the pool by way of the scenic raised boardwalk through the woods instead of walking all the way around the parking lot. As I approaced the pool area, a mother with several kids approached from the opposite direction so I moved to the right, felt something graze over my right foot, didn't think anything of it, until two days later when severe itching and small blisters appeared all over my ankle. Another two days go by and I have poison ivy all over both ankles and shins, so a trip to the local Walgreens to get Calamine lotion took time away from the parks and then I walked around with pink Calamine legs the rest of the week. A resort should NOT have poison ivy growing. After returning down that same path, sure enough, there was a small twig of poison ivy growing about 18 inches onto the decking. Then we started noticing it throughout the wooded area, and then noticed from our sreened in porch a six-foot vine growing up the side of the building opposite us. I did report this upon check-out and the woman, although apologetic and kind, claimed in the three years she has worked there has never seen or heard of any incidents regarding poison ivy.

Now, I realize this was not the best start to a vacation, but these are the same units, same room furnishings, same appliances in many cases, that we recall from 10, 15 and 20 years ago. The living room sofa was broken down so that the cushions would not lay flat. The fake bamboo bed headboard and television stands were so old there was a layer of dust stuck to them on something so sticky the dust wouldn't simply wipe off. There was a used toothpick left on a living room end table, chips behind the sofa and hair remaining in all the bathroom areas (sinks, tubs, showers, corners of the floor). Worst of all, in the week we were there, there were three relatively large (nickel to quarter sized) yellow/orange roaches found inside the unit (all belly up and found on different days) and one belly up right outside the unit door. The fact they were belly up combined with a small sign from a local pest control company by the check-in office when pulling into the complex probably implies maintenance is at least attempting to control the pests.

We have loved this place in the past, otherwise we wouldn't keep returning. Not so much this time. So much so that we will probably never come back to Parkway again. There are much nicer, newer and every bit as convenient resorts and hotels we found up on Buena Vista and World Center Drive that we will stay at next time.

ParkwayManager, Manager at Parkway International Resort, responded to this review, July 18, 2013
Dear “East Coast Tripper,” thank you for taking the time to share your experience on Trip Advisor. While the majority of the comments about Parkway International are very positive, it’s very important to hear when we don’t deliver the vacation our Guests expect. As painful as it was to read, we really do appreciate it. Honestly, it was a little surprising that you rated us “2” Owls out of 5. With everything that occurred during your stay, we probably deserve “0” out of 5! At a Resort with 144 two-bedroom units and hundreds of Guests on property; the occasional light bulb that went out, the remote that needs new batteries, or “we didn’t get a room overlooking the pool,” are things that happen. However, the sheer number and variety of issues you and your family experienced is shocking. Our goal at Parkway is to simply create the best vacation experiences. It’s quite obvious, that we failed to provide this experience on many fronts. Although this may be an odd request, we’d humbly ask you to call the Resort directly at 407-396-6600, and ask to speak to Chris, the General Manager. It’s important for us to personally apologize and make things right for you. Your posting stated that “we loved this place in the past, otherwise we wouldn’t keep returning.” Although you mentioned that you probably won’t come back, if you gave us the opportunity, we’re confident you’d quickly remember why you kept returning. Thanks again “East Coast Tripper” and Chris will be waiting your call!
