We stayed at the HOJO from 13th Oct until 21st Oct 2007, after reading reviews on this website before travelling, I rang the travel agent to see if we could change hotels - but as it was just a week before our holiday the amendment costs were too high - However we loved the HOJO, we were originally given a room on the ground floor, I asked for first floor because of security and my request was met. We saw no signs of cockroaches or bed bugs - the sheets were changed daily. The Bathroom was clean with fresh towels when we wanted - some people have thought it strange that the vanity basin was outside the bathroom, we found it handy as one person could get washed while somewhen was using the loo. The shower was brilliant - always had hot water and more modern and effective than the one in the top hotel we moved to for our second week in Miami. We set our own code for the safe - I think we paid $3 a day for this - well worth it for peace of mind. The area around the hotel was kept spotlessly clean, as was our room - we didn't use the pools, we stayed here as a crash pad for the Disney attractions, but the undercovered pool that we walked passed each morning on the way to breakfast always looked clean. We had a cooked breakfast on a couple of days which cost $7 (approx £3.50), otherwise we ate the FREE eat as much as you wanted continental breakfast - little bowls of cereal, toast, apples, little doughnuts (not to my liking), make your own tea/coffee or juice. I think we could have hired a kettle at Reception if we wanted. We did go up the road to the Sizzler one morning and had eat what you want buffet breakfast for about $5, plus drinks. We used the internet in reception which was good value a couple of times because we didn't seem to get on with the pay phones when out during the day, and by the time we got back to hotel it was always too late to ring home. Chinese restaurant next door good value - $10 plus drinks and tax for buffet , including puddings (also did some Children friendly other options ie: chicken nuggets, pizza - would cost £10 plus
in England. So we were glad we stayed at the HOJO, would recommend it to anyone as a No Frills place to stay - can't comment on shuttle bus as we had a car.
