“Good location and good value for money ... but thats about it !”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2010

We needed a place just to bed down for a 2 night stop in the area so we could visit the theme parks. We checked out Disney hotels, but as there was six of us (2 adults 4 children) it was way too expensive. So we decided to go cheap as all we were doing was sleeping there .. literally.

We found this motel online and for $160 for 2 nights for a family of 6, we thought why not ?

The gentleman on the reception was really nice and very helpful, he gave us maps and drew directions to the theme parks we were going to the next couple of days.

I will be honest ... the place looked a bit seedy and the room we was given was a bit tired and really in need of modernisation and smelt a little musty .. it appeared to be clean .. we had no interest in using the kitchen facilities as we had already planned to eat out. The television worked fine so the kids were happy, but the bathrooms were a bit dated. The A/C worked ok and there was free wi-fi but it would have been nice to have a few more pillows, because we didnt sleep that well. There was a pool but we didnt use it.

The bill was correct on checkout and the same man again was really nice and friendly to deal with and we got out of there

On the whole .. this place is ok if you want somewhere cheap just to sleep when your visiting the theme parks, but if your looking for luxury and creature comforts while staying then I dont think this is for you ... but as they say .... " you get what you pay for"

The staff was wonderful, very friendly.
The property was neat and clean.
The pool was very clean and warm enough for the kids.
They have a continental breakfast that was ok, we wnated waffles though.
The only thing I can say was wrong was the carpet in the room was kinda dirty and needs to be professionally cleaned, and they should look into getting small microwaves and mini fridges in each room.
All in all, I was very happy with everything else at this hotel location, and I would recommend to others and stay there next year when we go back.

This is in a great location for shopping and sightseeing. Backs on to Lake Cecil and has a fabulous heated pool and spa. Covered BBQ area, plenty of parking and serves a great inclusive breakfast. The room was comfortable and well equipped with a multi channel TV,
although the carpet was a little grubby. Pleasant staff. Very reasonable deal for roomrate on the Internet. Have stayed here before and will stay again.

We live in Central Florida, taking 3-5 mini vacations a year. We talk, plan, budget and end up here almost every time. Our family has the best memories and pictures of our times spent at this hotel together, bringing friends and family. We've had cookouts at the pavillion, casting in the lake, building sand castles, swinging, volleyball under the cypress trees, swimming, watching the racoons, just pure, simple fun,and we never even go to the "Parks". Vacations should be about family & memories, not servitude & finery, unless that's what's important to you,& then I would suggest looking at finer upper scale lodging and being prepared to pay the price. This place could use some updating, but then they'd raise the price & it would be congested like everything else in our state(. 2 bedrooms,LR w?sleeper & kitchen $70-come on)For my family, it's "The Lake)Thanks HoJo's.

First the good bit:
The room was clean, as were the beds & the bathrooms.
The beds were comfortable, the TVs worked well.
The only staff I really dealt with was at the office & she was pleasant enough.
We never used the pool. Parking is good.
Value for money considering how cheap it was.

Not so good:
The so called 'games' room is like two machines in the laundry room.
There is no Internet room.
The kitchen floor was dirty, although the kitchen itself was OK.
We could hear the laundry staff talking well into the evening, just outside our door.
Later in the night a crowd of noisy people had gathered outside our back window and were there into the early hours. We did wonder how drug smoking etc...

The worst for us:
By accident I left my mobile phone behind. Upon realising this I phoned the hotel from Orlando Airport. But was told it was not in the room.
Well I knew different.

As customary I had to file a police report for my insurance. I did that & emailed the hotel telling them that plus the fact that my phone had GPS thus could be located.

Well, guess what, suddenly my phone was found !! Miracle ??
It was eventually sent to me but damaged & tempered with.

I would NEVER stay there again. To stay in a hjotel you need to trust the staff...

This is a great hotel. Our party of 5 have stayed at this hotel for our last three holidays to Florida. In fact the last time (2 years ago) we visited two other hotels to see if they offered anything better, yet we returned to this one. We had two rooms side by side, which the staff were able to accommodate, yet again.
The hotel is ideally located. It is literally a five minute drive from most locations - (Walmarts, Petrol Stations, Food Outlets, Target, Disney, Old Town).
The hotel has an army of workers who can be seen cleaning the rooms, the pool area, tending the brilliant gardens, and maintaining the hotel complex. The reception staff were more than helpful. They happily organised a taxi cab a few days in advance, and allowed me to use the telephone to dial Universal Studios Lost and Found.
The rooms are more than adequate. Ours overlooked the pool, and the fantastic view over the Lake. The rooms were clean and thankfully had a fairly new looking A/C. In fact the rooms were all receiving new carpets on the day we left. Unlike the rooms in the other hotels, there was no evidence of mould or insects.
The internet WiFi was a god send, and I was able to receive the signal on the old boat jetty.
I cannot understand others who have left negative comments regarding the lack of pool cleaning or substandard breakfasts. We found that the pool was cleaned daily and the breakfasts saved us a small fortune to feed the 5 of us.
I do however have a few suggestions for the hotel. I would recommend that the trees are pruned back, especially at the rear of the hotel. Our view was partially blocked by mature Palm trees. I would also love to see the hotel invest in upgrading the BBQ building and the boat jetty, both of which are in danger of being blown over in the next hurricane.
A big well done, and thank you to all the staff who helped make our holiday yet another one to remember. And we def look forward to returning soon.
