“Great once we moved to an updated unit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

Lots of space, the pool, water slides and all the services were great.

We were in an older unit that smelled like cigarette smoke the first two nights. Once we complained we were moved to a newer unit that was so much better. It was like being in two different hotels. The linens, carpets, appliances, etc. were all superior in the newer unit. If I had to provide a review of the original unit, the review would be much lower.

A word of caution, the wifi coverage is very weak. I was able to do quick email checks but downloading large files would be impossible.

Room Tip: Ask for a newer unit.

Thank you for sharing your comments. We are sorry to hear of the cigarette smoke as all villas are posted as non-smoking. Renovations are are a yearly project at the resort with more units scheduled for later this year. We are currently in the process of upgrading the WiFi service. There are computers and printers available for guest usage in the activities center.

We had booked this resort through our travel agent. We were told that this would be a quality place to stay. That is the furthest thing from the truth. I don't even know where to start. We were given a list of supplies to check for upon check in. I went through and found at least 10 of the items were missing. I called the front desk and we were told, "do you really need those things?" I told them yes- because I did not want to be charged for them upon us leaving. I think that we were only given 3 of the items. The first floor bathroom's toilet leaked water all over the floor. I am telling myself that it was only from the heat. The kitchen: the dishwasher was not connected to anything- so whenever my husband opened the dishwashwer- it fell towards the floor.

The living room furniture was not very comfortable;but then what rental type furniture is comfortable? We tried to watch a redbox dvd and I ended up going to bed because the 2 of us could not lay on the couch whatsoever.

Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms. I was impressed by the size of the rooms. Closet space was ok, but very little drawer space. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom upstairs was large and really no complaints with that. There was a stackable washer/dryer right outside the master bedroom. When the washer was running it sounded as if the whole complex was going to fall in on itself.

We had also booked this place because of the shuttle that ran from there to Disney. What they don't tell you is that the last run for the shuttle was well before the closing of Disney at night. That was disappointing and an extra cost.

We only went to the pool once- it was nice..

Our stay took place in 2012. Things could have gotten better since then, but I really doubt it. I was really hoping for a very romantic place for us to come to after being out at DIsney. This certainly was not it. I was very disappointed.

Room Tip: don't stay here

We just left this place after 3 hours in the villa itself....while the pool area looks very nice the resort and rooms are awful....rooms are very small and uncomfortable and very outdated. The beds are dirty and small and very uncomfortable. Do not look at the picture displayed on their website, that must be the unit they are trying to sell, our fridge looked like someone punched it. You can't even use the kitchen because of the ants.....the last straw was when my son was sitting on the chair and had bugs crawling up his legs....
From check in (which was awful and the front desk people are so rude) to check out this place was awful.....spend the extra money and stay far away from this place.

Room Tip: our room was 3122 anything in this area is awful dark and dingy and awful

We were quite pleased with the villa itself. 2 bdrm villa was a really nice layout. Very quiet although we were not near the pool. We stayed for 6 days and only went swimming once as this all we had time for. The one time we did go the slides were closed ! We were not advised of this when we checked in. Took the shuttle to to DisneyWorld. On our return we were 5 minutes late ,due to the monorail, and the bus drove past us and left us behind. 29.00 cab ride back ! Villa was spotless. Dble bed was a little slanted. Would we stay again ? Maybe. Had a very homey feeling and is quite roomy. Thought we had left our passports there. They said that they would check the maid and call us on our cell. They did not call ! Front desk ladies a little snotty(spent more time time talking to another empl. about 4 guys) but the folks you talk to about things to do were GREAT !

Family and friends stayed here in January for a get together. Check in took quite some time as only 1 person working and a line of guests. The villas were just average, many had spots, stains on furnishings and carpet and banged up walls, stains etc. The beds were awful! The kitchens had been updated and were nice, granite counters and nice cupboards. The rest was nothing to write home about. The location was convenient to restaurants and grocery stores-Publix, Target etc. The pool area was a definite plus, the weather wasn't great so no amount of time was spent there but the lazy river and water slides are nice to have. The clubhouse offered a lot of activities and was brand new and beautiful.

For the party, we rented the banquet room. Opened up onto a terrace overlooking the pool and had nice outdoor seating. The room was furnished with tables and chairs, all new and very nice decor. Downside was no rental or close rentals for party supplies at the resort or even near by. Tables were very large so that also made finding tablecloths difficult. The contact for the room set up and access seemed nice but didn't fulfill his duties and contradicted everything we were told about renting the room, so beware. Bathrooms were not unlocked and people had to travel around searching for them. Doors weren't unlocked to the room, use of the small kitchen, refrigerator and access to room to decorate early was denied. Overall, it worked out but the stress of not having things as we planned made it difficult. Luckily the activity staff saved the day!!
I would not stay here again, I think you find amenities and location that are better than this for a better price.

Arranging the rentals and accommodations was smooth and easy.

These villas are nicely laid out. We stayed at the Magic Kingdom Court section. There are 6 sections on the side that has the main pool/lazy river/hot tubs. There are two other sections across the street that each have a pool each and one has tennis courts. These are two-story villas with two bedrooms (one w/ a queen and one with two twins) and bathroom upstairs, and kitchen/dining/living room at bottom. My mom uses a wheelchair most of the time so she stayed on the bottom floor (has a bathroom and shower stall) and slept on pull-out couch. We were facing the lazy river area so we could walk out of the living room, through the screen room (which had a lounge chair and table/chairs) which made it a little more convenient taking mom around. The lay-out was great and if you happen to see any bugs/lizards (which we didn't) remember that this is FL and part of your "home" is touching the ground so you may get some visitors but I promise they don't eat much! Nothing like floating around and relaxing on your birthday! My brother and I enjoyed the lazy river very much! The water was warm and the tubes were available on first-come, first-serve basis. There are about 12 to 14 tubes available and they stay in the lazy river area--just wait for an empty one to float by. We did most of our floating on Sunday which must be a transition day because it wasn't as crowded as Saturday (we spent most of this day at Disney so didn't get back until 4:30 and there were alot of people). They also have a large hot tub and a smaller one (which my brother said was more warm than hot) and at night there is a outdoor fire place that is lit so you can sit in the hottub and watch it or go on the other side of the fireplace and sit in the lounge chairs and read the paper! They also have an outdoor bar area which my mom said serves great Bloody Marys. Didn't participate in any other activities or visit other areas as I just loved the lazy river that much! This is a great property and you can save alot of money on meals due to the full kitchen. Would highly recommend it. There is a $13 "resort fee" per day (not per person) and they put it to good use keeping the community and the pool area clean and inviting.

Room Tip: rooms that are on the side of the road which has the lazy river/pool/hot tub area would be better fo...

"Our stay at the Fantasy World Resort didn't even come close to meeting our expectations. My advice is to "go where you know.... Our past stays in the Orlando area have been at the Regal Palms but the lure of the giant slides and kiddie pool area piqued our interests so we booked there even though it cost a little more to stay at Fantasy World. What a mistake! I will list what was wrong/our room was old and dirty. My daughter woke up with bug bites on her upper torso and legs. The kiddie pool area that we specifically stayed there for was closed the entire time we were there and when I asked to have it opened I was told no. The giant slides are only open until 5:00pm. Think about that concept/most visitors staying in that area are there for the theme parks and look to swim upon returning to their hotel in the evening but the one big attraction in that particular pool area closes at 5:00pm? Does that make sense to anyone? We lost a key to the villa inside the villa/the key is in the room/but I was charged a $5.00 penalty for losing it. When I asked if I would be reimbursed the $5.00 after the cleaning staff found it I was told no. I asked to speak to the manager and was told she was not in that day. I was given her phone number and tried to call her thoree times. A message could not be left for her because her mail box is full and has been for over a week. When I telephoned the front desk to be connected to her I was told "she is a very busy person and does not have time to speak to guests.../wow! A hotel manager who has no time to speak to her guests? For me I won't go back/go with what you know. What cannot be tolerated is bug bites while you sleep. I hope you find this review helpful because I'd hate to see anyone else be duped into staying at the Fantasy World Resort.
