We rented our unit through our resort exchange. So we paid an exchange fee plus their weekly rate, which wasn't a cheap deal. We rented the three bedroom unit. While we were pleasantly surprised with the size of the unit--it was larger than we expected, our stay was disappointing. We usually stay at resorts since we are time share members. We have experienced resorts in Orlando, Missouri and in Mexico. Aside from the unit size and features, Calypso Cay is NOT a resort. The unit is very spacious with ample TVs, washer/dryer, fridge etc. However our unit was old and in need of repair. We had ants in our kitchen and water bugs or something that looked like roaches. Also, the one pool is shared with a couple of hotels and is murky. We also were woke up each morning by the sound of what was a blower. Every morning it was loud at the same time. Although we paid nearly $1,000 for our week, we had to pay an extra $40 for mid week cleaning service, which only included our beds being changed. The beds were comfortable but things were old, carpets had stains etc. We were really disappointed.

I didn't stay at this reosrt but I bought a package to stay with them and sent it back because I cahnged my minds.. it's been over 60 days and no refund of my money.. I keep having to call their customer service 1-800-824-1533 daily and they keep giving me different stories but no refund yet... their refund manager is totally useless.. won't even call me back with an update on the status of my refund.. This Company is very unprofessional and I would advise all customers to STAY WELL AWAY!!!!!

We stayed at Calypso Cay Vacation Villas from May 12th thru May 19th. Let me start off by saying that there are 2 different places to check in at the "Welcome" center. There is a door for owners and a door for those who they are going to attempt to make owners that paid full price for their stay. The employees at the owners counter are friendly and infromative. The employees at the other desk next door are un-professional and totally rude. To me it seemed like they hired kids 18 to 23 they pay minimum wage who have no business dealing with people, much less a job that customer service is needed. The unfriendly young man acted irritated the entire time while checking people in, as if we were "bothering" him and taking him away from somthing much more important. Check in took almost an hour after standing in line with only 3 people in front of us. They only have 1 person checking people in on a Saturday. Strange.
To make things even more strange the first night we were there at about 1130PM we heard a helicopter hovering. After about a 1/2 hour we went outside to see what was going on and there were police vehicles surrounding the entire buidling. Fortunatly for them it was past midnight so those people with kids were most likely sleeping and missed the whole ordeal. I called the front desk to find out what was going on and after about 5 minetes of listening to the phone ring, they picked up. I was told VERBATIM.."there are 3 "SUSPECTS" running through the property, thats all..dont worry about it." I asked if we were safe to leave our room and was told. "Probably not..you should stay in the rest of the night" the front desk than hung up on me. IS THIS ACCEPTABLE?? The Helicopter stayed circling the building with its spotlight until about 4AM. Needless to say we did not get any sleep and many people we spoke with the next day heard the whole ordeal as well.
What really is strange to me is the next day they tried to sell us a vacation villa and when I told them absolutley not after last nights ordeal. EVERYONE from the timeshare presentation acted like they had NO IDEA what I was referring to. When I began talking about the situation they were quick to let me know it was not Calypso Cay's fault. Apparantly 3 men robbed the super Walmart down the street and were hiding in the dumpsters of the resort. Supposidly they were found. The bottom line is I NEVER felt safe while staying at this resort and was worried the entire time about the rental car getting broken into or damaged. The resort is not gated, and is right off a major Rd / highway. The view from our balcony looked at a retaining wall/parking lot and the expressway. A very strange place to build vacation villas. Building 5002 does not have good views of anything but the expressway.
The room was okay, nohing to right home about. The bed was not that comfortable, the floor was dirty all the time, because it was tiles. I dont know if they mopped before we got there, our feet were always dirty and we had to wear shoes anywhere we walked in the place.
The walls in the bedrooms are paper thin. The people next door had a baby that cried all morning long and I could hear every word they were saying. They also had a toddler that must have gotten into some trouble because I could hear the parents yelling at him a couple times throughout the trip. The room had all the anemities, but was very crammped. We had a 1 bedroom on he 4th floor. You would enter the bathroom from the bedroom or the hall. It was really silly because both doors to the bathroom were so close they would hit eachother when you opened them. The tub and shower head needed to be replaced the tub was a whirlpool, but we never used it. It looked stained and grimey on the bottom. The shower had what looked like to be grime and mold stuck in the spickets.
