We tried to put in a review from 2004 when Key West was evacuated due to hurricanes; but we just joined TripAdvisor and do not want an impresion of almost three years ago to be unknown. Bruno's was one of the only places opened in order to provide service to the many displaced and disoriented people at the time. In spite of the danger, they challenged the weather and authorities to stay open because everyone had scoured. A skeleton crew volunteered to stay and they were ever so warm, welcoming and thoughtful. The food was more than a meal--it was a symphony to our souls. Recently, their concern for the community has come forward when more unfortunate others were permanently displaced by tornadoes, and our neighbors' relatives lived to tell of their humanitarian quality and generosity. Yes, Bruno's Restaurant was there, welcoming, concerned and serving very authentic Italian soul food. Their quality in both service and flavor has not wavered in spite of the storms weathered. We have been going to this restaurant for years, the food is wonderful but on two occasions now we have had trouble using our discount coupons from them. On both occasons we had our Entertainment Card with us from the Orlando Entertainment Book that gives you one free dinner if you purchase one at the same price. First incident happened on March 17, 2005, we told them we had the card but when we went to pay our bill we were told it was not good on holidays, and that day was St Patrick's day. At no place does it state that on the card, but we paid for both meals and left. This past incident happened a few days ago and we had the same buy one get one free deal with our Entertainment Card. The waiter took the card along with the check, and punched the card to show it had been used, which was fine and hands it to another waiter to cash us out. The second waiter goes to ring it up and stated it was no good as it was already punched out on our card. I made sure to tell him that the other waiter had just punched it out for this meal, but he called the manager to ok it. I retold my story of the first waiter punching my card, and he gave us the discount but he treated us like we cheated him out of a meal. I will never return again to this place, only go if you do not mind being ripped off.

The food here was okay, but when we got the check, we found that we were way overcharged. They charged us $10 for a kids meal (because it was shared by two toddlers), $10 for three sodas (one of which was for a child), and their "Special" that I ordered, was $5 more than their most expensive meal, yet it was very similar to their other meals (veal). It was $23.95! They didn't have a computer printed bill, it was hand written, which is how they upped the prices so much. We think the reason they cheated us so bad was because we used a Buy One Get One Free meal coupon from Hotels. Even with that they would only take off the kids meal when the two adult meals were $24 and $18. They should have taken off the $18 meal. That was totally unacceptable and I would hope that no one would go there and experience that. The customer service and everything was great until we gave them that coupon at the end of our meal. Now we will wait until after we receive the bill to give coupons! If they don't want people using it, they should not advertise on Hotels! The manager was very deceitful and I will never go there again. I will only warn people against it.

We have just returned from a week in Florida and wanted to tell everyone about Bruno's Italian Restaurant. We found it in the Entertainment Book and were a little skeptical but decided to try it. What a pleasant surprise. The food was great, the house wine very good and reasonable, ($10.95 for a full carafe) and the waiters were friendly and helpful. It was a great find considering all the chains and mediocre eateries in the area. They also have New York style pizza besides their pasta dishes. They are located on Hwy. 192 about 5 or 10 minutes west of Disney World. 407-397-7577. Try it, you'll like it! Glen from Des Plaines
