First and foremost, Flippers has great pizza. Thin and New York style, it's hard to beat.
That's where the praise ends. We swore off Flippers several years ago after it took more than an hour to get one sandwich delivered a mile down the road. When we called to ask the status of the missing meal, we were informed that the driver had more than ten orders to deliver. We empathized with the driver but were put off by the cold, uncaring tone at the other end of the line who offered no customer service when we said as locals we felt we could not order there again.
But the pizza... So we decided to give Flippers another chance. Over the course of perhaps half a dozen orders, the delivery was typically late, almost ALWAYs wrong and the food is very expensive. This when the restaurant is nearly always empty. I can count one time an order was complete, accurate and well made. It's truly astonishing.
We ordered a sub one night as part of a larger order. It came with no tomatoes though they were highlighted in the menu. We called to inquire about this and were told that there were no tomatoes available. In an Italian restuarant? And why not tell the customer prior to making the incomplete meal? But this is how the location apparently works.
An NYPD Pizza has opened up across the street. It's packed every night, makes outstanding food and the customer service is friendly and attentive. Flippers may learn a hard lesson in restaurant management.
