We just returned from a four-night stay at this Motel 6 Main Gate West location. Using the "Click 6" rates for the week of March 13th to March 18th, we got a wonderful rate of about $32 per night; fantastic for spring break time in Orlando/Kissimmee. I requested a non-smoking room on the first floor and I received both.
Location of this motel is excellent on the west side of I-4 on Hwy 192 in Kissimmee. It is just past the first traffic light as you enter the west side, and very close to the Disney exit. There are many shops and restaurants within 1/2 mile of this motel.
The room was fairly clean, but did have that typically musty smell of all rooms in this area. Also, you can always tell when the room has had a dog in it as you get that "wet dog" smell too. Most all the motels in Kissimmee are now pet friendly, so the pet smell seems to be in all these places. The bathroom did have hair on the floor, but the toilet and tub were clean. As I usually do, I hosed down the place with a can of Lysol just to be safe, and also brought along my Fabreeze to use on the carpet, curtains, and bedspreads.
However, you sometimes don't get much service with a low rate motel and so it was with this one.
When we checked in, we had everything necessary in the room, but for every remaining day, we had to go begging for towels, soap, toilet paper, etc., at the front desk.
One day we'd had towels, but no wash clothes. The next day we'd have no hand towels. They never left any toilet paper on any of the days, so we had to ask for it every time. Soap was never provided after the initial check-in.
The final night of our stay was Friday evening, and we got in very late that night after our days outings. We had NO bath towels at all, and when we went to the front desk to ask for some, they had none left because it was a full house.
Now it seems to me that basic motels services like having enough towels, soap, and other items would be a given, but not at this location, nor at many other locations of Motel 6.
If you stay here during busy times, like spring break or summer months, be sure to bring all your own towels, soap, and even toilet paper. You sure won't be assured of having any otherwise.
One good thing was that we didn't experience the "bed bug" problem in our room, which was room 102. I don't know which rooms at this place had the bed bugs, but I intentionally looked to make sure we didn't have the "evidence" of any.
We did have a few spiders and other bugs come into the room while we were there, but that is typical of the area of Orlando. I've yet to see a motel that didn't have some kind of bug sooner or later.
Overall, I'd say if you want a really good bargin price, and can tolerate not having basic services, this is an o.k. place to stay. The staff was always friendly and helpful when they could be, but when there are no supplies available or towels, the "I'm sorry" just doesn't help much.
