I was so excited to stay at the new AoA resort! We generally stay at Pop Century and enjoy it but I just had to try AOA when it opened and I don't think I could ever stay anywhere else!!! It's magnificent and fabulous we loved just walking around and seeing all the gigantic Disney Favorites, Ariel, King Triton, Ursula, Scar, Pumbaa, Timon, Simba.... I never made it over to see the Cars side or Nemo :( ....next time :). It's just beautiful everywhere, inside the rooms, outside, the pools!!! I just absolutely loved it! The only downside is after a long day in the parks, it's quite a hike to the Little Mermaid rooms, especially with sleepy children but we survived and would do it over in a a heart beat! Most fabulous hotel ever!

A surprising amount of people planning a trip to Walt Disney World Resort, Florida, and the surrounding areas often miss out by thinking that they can’t afford to stay in in a ‘proper’ Disney hotel. The luxury resort hotels are phenomenal – the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa springs instantly to mind, as does the eye-popping Animal Kingdom Lodge – but there’s a whole host of other Disney properties at all price ranges and to properly immerse yourself in the Disney experience, you can’t beat staying at a Disney resort hotel.

Disney have several ‘value’ options when it comes to accommodation, the newest of which is the Art of Animation Resort where I stayed at Christmas. The resort is HUGE, with giant characters dotted everywhere. It’s split into four main wings: there are three family suite wings: a Finding Nemo themed wing, a Cars-themed wing where we stayed, and a Lion King wing, plus there is also a wing with standard rooms, with a Little Mermaid theme.

The styling and attention to detail in all of these areas is frankly enough to take your breath away. We were drawn to the ENORMOUS Crush (whom I love, with a passion – don’t miss ‘Turtle Talk with Crush when you’re visiting Epcot – you can have a full-on chat with the cool surfer dude. It’s totally AWESOME, duuuuude!) and the Cars themed wing where we stayed had huge, lifesize Cars characters and a complete recreation of Radiator Springs. Mindblowing!

The staff are, as you’d expect from Disney, absolutely wonderful and go above and beyond the call of duty, especially with the little guests. We were late to meet up with the others on the trip one day as we were transfixed by one of the gardeners who was showing a group of children how to draw Disney characters with a brush and water on one of the baking hot sidewalks.

Inside the family suites, the incredible theming continues – there are two proper bathrooms, a kitchen area, a dining area that magically transforms into a pull-down double bed at night time, and another leather sofa, themed like the rear seat of a car, that also folds out into a double bed. It’s all such good quality, you’d never believe they call this a ‘value’ resort.

The reception area is absolutely fabulous, with different lights as you go down the row of desks, and fabulous framed artist sketches of the characters on the walls, and the pool area is frankly magical, where you can actually hear the Disney tunes being played UNDER THE WATER!

My only negative, if you can call this a negative, is that personally, I wasn’t massively keen on the dining area, which is huge and a bit complicated to negotiate. Still, if you’re staying in the suites it’s far easier – and cheaper- to self cater and just pop in occasionally to treat yourself to breakfast (with nice coffee) before you head off to the parks.

We have just returned from our Disney trip. We were there from Jan 2-7. Four adults and one child age 5 in the Cars Suites. Of course, the child loved it. It was plenty comfortable enough for all of us - after all who goes to Disney to stay in the room. The 2 bathrooms were wonderful. Our room was clean. We did seem to have better housekeeping the first 2 days we were there - towels folded like animals left in the room but after that it was so so. This is a big resort so there is a lot of walking involved but nothing to bad. The food court could use some work with service and courtesy. We had very few meals there. Check in was a breeze. I would not recommend this for adults without children as it is loud! We had no issues though with hearing other people when in our room. I would stay here again if there were children involved but for just the hubby and myself we would not.

Room Tip: I would definitely pick the number one building in the Nemo section. It is closer to main bldg and...

We stayed in 2 of the "themed" areas during our stay.

Our first was "The Lion King" - Absolutely stunning... we all loved the themed rooms. Disney really outdid themselves on this one. The suite was nice, not huge with all the beds out, but comfortable. We don't spend alot of time in the room when we are there, but it was nice to have the sitting area and table. There is also a mini fridge, microwave and sink. Best thing for us was the 2 BATHROOMS :) Very nice for a family.

The second leg of our trip, we stayed in the "Finding Nemo" suite. We were all dissapointed with the theme decoration of the room. Quite a letdown after the Lion King suite. The room size and furnishings were all the same, but the overall feel of the room just didn't appeal to us. Not as colorful or vibrant.

The food court also was a bit of a letdown. We have stayed numerous times in many of the "value resorts" and found them to be satisfactory in getting us in and out of the food court rather quickly. It seemed to take forever here, and I didn't feel as though there were alot of choices or variety. The menus didn't seem to change at all. There was no place to get an ice cream sundae ( yes there was gelato) or a "fresh" baked goods area. I guess it was the presentation, but I never felt like I was getting a freshly baked cookie or dessert.

Maybe I was just expecting too much from this resort, but I was feeling a tad "under"whelmed.

We stayed at Disney's Art of Animation Hotel for 10 nights over Christmas 2012, two adults and our 3 year old son. We stayed in the Cars section as he is Lightning & Mater mad! From the moment we pulled into the car park & my son saw all the drawings of all the characters represented at the hotel, ie Cars, Nemo, Lion King & Little Mermaid, he was itching to investigate. The hotel was brilliant. All four sections are very well designed & the main swimming pool in the Nemo section is perfect for children, with both a pool & a wet area with no water depth, ideal for toddlers. The hotel has everything you would expect & of course being Disney, every member of staff is friendly, full of smiles & nothing is too much trouble. Our room was exactly as described both in brochures & on the Internet, it was clean & comfortable for the 3 of us. I would suggest any more than 2 adults & 2 children may be a bit of a squash & a squeeze! The room/ mini apartment is not particularly spacious, but then you don't really spend much time in it anyway. The beds are made up with sheets & blankets, no duvets in sight. It was great to have a fridge for storing all our own food & drinks that we brought much cheaper from a supermarket. We took lots of great photos from around the hotel, it was nice to walk around the whole place & have a bit of a break from the busy parks, whilst still entertaining our son & ourselves. I highly recommended this hotel, particularly if you have children, all parties there had children, don't recall seeing any couples without them. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there & we will be returning.

This was our family's first trip to Disney, our party consisted of dad, mom, grandma and 3 girls (9,9 and 10). We chose A of A because of price and suite accommodations. We were in the cars section building 3. We arrived early in the morning, 8:30 ish, and checked in in about 3 minutes, our room was not ready but we didn't expect it would be. We headed right for the buses and off to the Magic Kingdom. The wait for a bus was short, we chose to stand rather than wait for another bus. We received a text around lunch time that our room was ready. After a long day we arrived back at the resort around 10 and had a helpful bellman that aided us with luggage and to our room. The kids were thrilled by the decor, I loved that there was a private room and bathroom for my husband and I, great shower. The decor was cute and the room very clean. To sum up the rest of our stay Pros: clean, quiet, comfortable, FUN!, quick bus service, friendly staff, well appointed room with plasticware, cups, wine opener etc.., nemo pool was awesome and even though it was cool outside the girls said the pool was warm. Pool side bar for mom and dad. Plenty of parking, but might be a hike. Cons: it is a large resort so you must walk quite a distance between buildings. The food court was crowded and took a while, but I think that is pretty common. Requested extra towels and blankets and they never arrived the first night, had to request again 2nd night. If you need a bellman when checking out, call early, it took a long time! Would stay again.

Disney's Art of Animation is one of the best themed resorts Disney has to offer. You don't have to be a kid to love this one. The rooms are magnificiently done, down to the very last detail. You are totally surrounded by the artistry, enchantment and magic of Walt Disney and Disney Pixar movies. You will feel as though you are right in the story itself. This resort is AWESOME. You'll love it.

Room Tip: With this one, just choose your favorite Disney Pixar movie.
