We were passing through the area on our way to a cruise, and after having eaten at a Logan's Roadhouse (?) and just looking at all of the chain restaurants in the area, I came to the conclusion that our pickings were slim if we wanted good food. Luckily, I happened upon a Yelp discount at Beacon Deli Gastropub, and took my wife and son there for dinner. It's a little hard to find for out-of-towers, but we finally realized it was located at a resort and spa, and had no store-front of its own. When driving up to it, I thought I'd made a mistake in sinking $10 for the discount. We were all starving after spending the day at the pool though, and the prospect of some reheated kotchkie-restaurant food gave us resolve to try something new. We ended up ordering chicken fingers for our son, and the Four-Alarm burgers for my wife and myself. We were seated outside near the spa's pool, with a nice view of a lake and trees. Across the pool from the restaurant, we got a 5-Heineken bucket for $10. Not too long after that, out came the chicken for our son, and while I was expecting little, I was floored with hand-battered chicken breast tenders with what had to be the lightest, crispiest crust, and piping hot (and super juicy) chicken underneath. Not too long after that came our burgers, and to say that they were 11/10 would not do them justice. Texas toast (grilled in olive oil) with a many-flavor pepper mayo along with jalapeños and other goodies. In the middle of all that was the most amazing medium-rare burger patty. I can describe this burger all day long and not do it justice, just go and try it!!! Along with the burger came some amazing homemade dipping sauces for our onion rings. I'm salivating about this meal just writing about it. To top it off, we got to meet the cook, Jon Martin - down to earth and passionate as hell about his work. My wife and I vowed to get this place in Diners Drive-ins & Dives, so hopefully this'll be a start in getting some more notoriety for the place. With any luck, our drive back to the airport will bring us by this place again.
