“Great Family Escape!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013

Our family had a fabulously fun time at this exciting property. We had 2 great connecting rooms and the King room was huge! Lots to do and see! Loved the atrium and the pool with lots of fun activities. Food was good, but outrageously expensive for 2 adults and 3 kids. 4 burgers, 1 fish sandwich, 1 loaded fries appetizer, beverages + tip=$170!! We are locals and will certainly go back, but will eat off property next time. Great place to stay!

Room Tip: Ask for the oversized king room!

I stayed here for a business conference. The rooms, front desk service, food services at the conference center, most restaurants (w/the exception of Wreckers - where the service is down right awful), gym are all fantastic.

The hotel is located a few miles from Disney World and is quite difficult to leave w/out a car (nothing in walking distance and no side walks for running/walking.)

Room Tip: Ask for an outside facing room

Stayed at Gaylord Palms for a work related convention. This Gaylord keeps up with the rest of the Gaylord's. Lots of amenities, comfortable rooms, (Beds were a bit hard for my taste but hubby love it.), beautiful gardens, lots of restaurant choices. We did not have the need to eat at the restaurants (other then a quick lunch at Wreckers which was tasty), so I cannot comment on their food. Drinks were worth the money at Wreckers and Sand Bar.

There is lots to do at this hotel - nice pools, (one with zero entry and fountains for the kiddies and the second is an adult lap pool), water park next to the pool, fitness center, spa, lots of shops, wildlife exhibits, etc. There are shuttles to and from the parks, which is important because the resort is isolated. Don't go there and think you can walk to a less expensive restaurant or bar, or anywhere other than Walgreens.

Convention food was very tasty and the convention center was enormous and seemed to completely meet our needs.

As with all hotels of this caliber, this all comes with a price. Keep in mind there is a $20/day resort fee plus parking fees on top of your room rate and of course all of the wonderful taxes. You can find some price breaks for govt/military, AAA, seniors but these are limited, so book in advance! One more thing, inside balcony room have an up-charge that we declined. We had a beautiful view from our room of the gardens. In my opinion, no need to pay for an inside view!

I just returned from my trip with my family and I must say its an awesome hotel.. The spa services were great... the garden, the fish, the rainforest, the pool, the food... all fabulous however the customer service at times leave a lot left to be desired...I believe additional staff is required to make the complete five star experience.. my room was never cleaned when we asked... it took forever.. there is not a set time for the staff to clean... we asked for extra towels more than once and we still never received the towels, or the shower cap...

My room was okay but not the best floor plan... I enjoyed my time at the spa and the numerous restaurants however there seem to always be a problem with some of the staff.. Checking in should have been seamless but, it wasn't the person checking us in told us the wrong elevator.. what a long way to walk with all our bags.. There was No bell person to carry the bags upstairs.. not happy about that..

Someone greeted us but just to bring the bags into the hotel not to the room.
We did enjoy the cool AC everywhere.. and the Ice Cream shop... But note to Gaylord Palm: A-1 service is just that.. bringing the bags to the room, giving correct information and having a courteous at your service personality for all guest.. That is what should be offered for the price.
Some of the staff were hard of hearing and I found housekeeping to be a little too nosy.... constantly asking are you leaving.. when are you leaving today or tomorrow. Well she probably meant nothing by it but asking someone when are they leaving when they barely have been there for a day is not a good look..
All people should be welcome. If cleaning the room was a problem just give a time when the service will be offered or leave a note on the knob as oppose to making the guest feel unwanted or weird. Everyone is entitled to a perfect vacation without drama.. It seemed everyday there was another problem with this or that.. That was utterly annoying and put a bad taste on our palette.. We will give Gaylord Palm another try but if things are the same as the first we will not be back..
Gaylord Palm.. can really take a page out of One Ocean Resorts book.. The hotel is beautiful and every guest is assigned a One Docent to attend to all there needs.. every question is answered, suggestions were given and all needs were attended to.. There was no stone unturned.. One Ocean Resort... is the kind of 6 star service my family is used too. Please do research it is definitely required! on a scale of 1-10 I would give Gaylord Palm a 5 for customer service and an 8.5 for the hotel décor and family activities.. The staff also seemed a bit stressed too little staff will cause distress not comfort please hire more staff or make the people standing around doing nothing help guest instead of staring, watching and not greeting.

I brought my extended family from the Midwest here over the holidays for a "wow" factor and Gaylord delivered! I have enjoyed this resort in the past, in addition to the Texan and Opryland resorts, and knew I could count on a wonderful experience. Pristine customer service, cleanliness, decorative elegance, and diverse culinary selections within a botanical heaven is what to expect.
We enjoyed the ICE sculptures while we were here and I strongly advise to dress warmly for this, even in the Sunshine State! The Madagascar presentation was delightful!

I am still in awe of this place. But the parking and walking and time I spent traveling to and from when I could have been resting and vacationing was annoying. The cost for parking was outrageous. It almost forced you to eat there, and I didn't want to. The rooms were nice and the service seemed like everything else in this area. No one really seems to like their job. I wouldn't either if I had to walk so much to do everything. Fantastic gardening and plants.

Room Tip: Expect to walk a lot. Get a room near the pool if you expect to use it. View doesnt really matter...

The Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center was very breath-taking. We stayed from July 8-13, 2013 in a balcony suite. This is more than a 5-star resort, it is a "Gold Crown" resort. The atrium has central cooling. It is booo-ti-ful! Yes, this place is just WOW! My family and I LOVED IT AND PLAN TO VISIT Orlando-Gaylord EVERY YEAR. It is so very close to Walt Disney, Seaworld and othe major attractions. The restrooms, bathrooms, quality of food are just amazing. This resort is kid friendly. My kids loved sherk, puss and boots, and the other characters. They all come out for pictures everyday, The one thing we loved most is the water park they have for kids. The adults have a separate pool (but kids can go to both and vice-versa); along with many eating and shopping places (right on the facility) to select from. Personnel was helpful and nice; at least everyone we met was very kind and helpful.

NOTE: Be ready to spend some money. Don't stay if you can't pay $20 velet/ $18 self-parking a day. We didn't mind, because our vehicle was kept in a well lighted safe place...it's gated so not just anyone can enter the parking lots. Also, they have individuals monitoring the gates. The convention Center is unbelieveable boo-ti-ful. I'll just say this, when you get to the center of the convention center...(lobby level) just LOOK UP! What a view!!! Overall, A+++++.

It is a top ten vacation spot in Florida, so bring your money. It's not a hotel or motel, it's your DREAM VACATION LOCATION! HAVE FUN....WE SURE DID!!!

P.S.
Signed by a Florida celebrity!

Room Tip: A must have, pool view!
