“Overall great hotel...with a few glitches!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

Look no further if you'd like an Orlando hotel which is a destination unto itself! The massive atrium filled with tropical plants, fish and alligators, restaurant choices, shopping, lively pool areas and spa give you loads of options for having a great time without theme park tickets. However, that said you are perfectly situated for hitting any of the area's attractions. We had a large room that was clean and attractive, only complaint ...that as a mobility accessible room it had an odd configuration in the toilet bath area and no accessible sink (double sinks but no real wheelchair access)...not completely unmanageable but seemed a bit odd. Also, the hotel was wildly busy, so things like bell services or a request for a rollaway took forever. Due to the fact that they do host conventions there were a number of partying conventioneers in the public spaces but our room was well insulated and pleasantly quiet. Would definitely consider this spot again for a future stay!

Stayed here during recent cheerleading competition. Great hotel, beautiful rooms, amazing atrium, and a fabulous pool. Great place for a family. We had a great price for the competition so cannot complain about the rates for the room. Only issue is with the food prices!! The prices are outrageous for the quality of food and our daily food costs for 3 was well above the cost of the room. They take advantage of the remote location. Familes be aware that you can order pizza and other food for delivery at half the cost - go to the concierge - the have a list of places that deliver to the lobby. Then you can eat in your room or at one of the tables in the atrium. Plenty of folks did the same thing. It was like dining al fresco in a jungle! Very nice option for families - then can spend your hard earned $ on theme parks and souvenirs to take home and not over priced hotel food. Loved this place - only complaint was the cost of meals - way over priced for Florida - gouging people!

Generally do not write reviews but thought I share my recent experience at the Gaylord. This is the first time I have stayed at ths property, have stayed in Orlando many times at generally high en properties. The Gaylord is beautiful, an atrium that is one of a kind a real destination property. Unfortunately the service does not match the property. From the time I pulled up in the valet property I knew this would be no Ritz experience and for that matter not a typical Marriott experience either. The valets were at best accommodating but bordered on rude. Very new and inexperienced in customer service seemed to be the norm f the personnel there. The front desk was although slow we're accommodating and polite. The rooms were clean and large. We find in many of the properties restaurants and bars and universally the service was below poor. Bartenders looked bothered if they had to serve you both in the sports bar and seafood restaurant.
Food was ok. I do not know the particulars of the timing of when Marriott took over but would hope they begin training the employees on proper guest service especially at such a nice location. I will wait a while before considering a stay at this property again, with so many other choices in this area why should I compromise on service until hey get here act together.

Room Tip: If you choose to stay here, the interior atrium rooms are magnificent.

I had high hopes of this being a wonderful spring break with my children. Everyday we went to the pool, we had to lie on the ground. 60% of the chairs had towels and noone sitting in them. I asked the staff if there was something they could do. And their response was, we understand your frustration but they couldn't do anything. I'm paying $20 a day for resort fees ad can't even sit in a chair?! Unacceptable! Not enough activities for children. Nothing to do!

We booked here after having passed by several times on past trips. It looked nice from a distance and thought it was worth trying.

Public areas are gorgeous. Lots of climate controlled atrium space to explore. We tried several of the hotel restaurants and found them all to be good. Outside there are two very large pools, one of which is desigated for adult use. Everything appears to be very well maintained. My only negative (and this is minor): the guest laundry is totally undersized for a hotel of this size (2 washers and 2 dryers in an airless room without chairs - dryers appear to vent into the room).

Rooms are comfortable and well equipped but nothing overly luxurious. A balcony overlooking the atrium provided a nice place to sit out regardless of the outside weather. Double sinks in the bath area were nice. A real refrigerator kept food nice and cold.

Don't let the Kissimee address disuade you - you are VERY close to the WDW entrance. As far as the parking fee goes (which I read some complaints about), that appears to the norm now at Orlando resorts. We had a great time and quite likely will return at some point in the future.

Room Tip: If availalbe, get a room that faces the atrium.

Granted, it's Spring Break week but my husband and I thought we could Atleast seek refuge at the "adult only" pool. Yeah..not so much. I'm sitting here poolside with 12 to 14 year old girls playing in the pool while 40 ft away there is a huge family pool they could be in and the staff doesn't seem to be doing anything about it. It's a little frustrating. I know these Orlando resorts will no doubt have families and kids... But Atleast have one one place for us adults to be without kids ... We are paying a lot of money to stay here!

The resort itself is fine--- the atrium with the Florida cities is cute enough and it gives the resort a little something extra. The pools are nothing to write home about ecspecially for a resort this size. JW San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa and the JW Dessert Ridge resort both blow this place out of the water for a much better value. Spend your vacation/ Marriott Rewards points elsewhere.

We stayed at the hotel for our anniversary, using teir special package of stay one night get the second one free. What a great deal! The room was very large and beautiful with granite countertops and double sinks in the bathroom. the bed was very comfortable and the sheets luxurious. The atrium is to die for with lush tropical planting and spring flowers everywhere. We spent a relaxing couple of hours at the adult pool and enjoyed our drinks served poolside. We ate at the Villa di Flora mediterrainean buffet and it was good. Good but not fabulous. My only complaint is that they seem to nickle and dime you alot. There is a $20 a day resort fee which pays for your wifi and 2 bottles of water. Self parking in $18 per day. We did hop their free shuttle to Downtown Disney and that was great. We will absolutely go back.

Room Tip: The rooms on the atrium are more expensive but we were warned that they could be noisy
