“Florida 2012”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

Me and my girlfriend here as part of our Florida trip recently. This place had it all: game room, bar, restaurant, 2 outdoor pools, and other amenities. The room was fairly clean the beds were good although the bathroom was rough around the edges. The staff was friendly and was willing to give us directions to nearby attractions. It is also close to many of the theme parks (about 5 miles to the Magic Kingdom and 15 to Universal). Overall we enjoyed our stay here and look forward to our next trip to Florida.

Stayed here during Thanksgiving for a 2 night Getaway from Tampa. We stayed in the Tower (Highrise) and it was very nice. The rooms were clean and the staff was very nice. I will definetly return. Reinaldo Alvarez, at the Front Desk was very friendly and professional. We had the Breakfast Buffet at the Hotel and Ms.Cleo makes a wonderful Omelette. Overall stay was a very good experience.

Room Tip: High Floor end room great view of Magic Kingdom Fireworks.

We stayed at this "hotel" thanks to a JetBlue deal for Orlando (2 adults, 1 child) - Some may argue you get what youi pay for but trust me when I say the "hotels" website is very misleading. We expected to stay in a hotel, what we got was a motel room. There are 2 parts to this "hotel", an actual hotel with rooms built vertically, and a seperate section, which is setup in the horizontal ground floor motel layout. We were given a ground floor motel room, on the backside of this place. It was an incredibly creepy area with all sorts of charecters hanging out, smoking and drinking until all hours of the evening in the back parking lot. We could hear EVERYTHING because the walls were paper thin. The place in general is run down and the people behind the guest check-in desk were extremely unfriendly and rude. The beds were insanely uncomfortable. We had better TV on the plane, the television played about 20 channels - all of which hummed and were unwatchable. They advertise a free shuttle to the parks (disney/universal) however they don't mention that they only run these shuttles ONCE there and ONCE back certain times of the year (like November, when we went). Be prepared to pay for cabs if your flight schedule doesn't allow time for their free shuttle schedule. We also detected a mold smell in our room - it was pretty foul. Oh, and if you're planning to save a little bit of money by enjoying their continental breakfast - think again. Continental breakfast included the smallest cup of fruit you could possibly imagine, ALL the fruit was BAD and rotten. a cup of plain yogurt, and a bagel the size of half my fist (and I'm a petite female). In addition, this bagel I was served, and the one they served my child had MOLD on it. Needless to say, we didn't end up dinning there. Take my advice, there's a TON of hotels in the area all within a mile or 2 of Disney's parks... stay anywhere but this place, you'll be much better off!

Room Tip: Don't stay in the hotel. Period.

It is completely true that the hotel is divided into two sections, the standard rooms and the deluxe rooms in the tower portion of the property. We clearly show both sections of the hotel on the website. The lower priced rooms are in the two story section of the property. The higher priced rooms are in the interior corridor section or the 8 story high rise part of the hotel. The 2 story section of the hotel has walls of cinderblock between every room, not "paper thin", but typical of construction here in Florida at the time the property was built. In September of this year, we installed a new cable TV provider, Summit Broadband. We have 38 channels, including 3 HBO channels, as well as high definition channels in the deluxe rooms with the flat panel TV's. This is the first complaint I have received since the install. For any future guest having any picture quality issues in their room, please let us know immediately and we will switch out the TV. Our FREE shuttle service to Disney runs Three times, once to the Magic Kingdom and twice to EPCOT. We run one trip to Universal and Seaworld, while these parks are less than 20 minutes from the hotel, they are not the high demand for our guests. Printed schedules are available at the desk daily. Our fresh fruit is delivered weekly from our national supplier SYSCO and we have not had issues with "bad" fruit, however my hope is that if this were pointed out to the server in the dining room it would have been immediately taken care of. If something like that was not caught first by the culinary team, I sincerely apologize.

This reviewer is correct, there are a number of other properties in the immediate area. We encourage all Tripadvisor readers to look at the hotels they are selecting and know what it is that they are purchasing prior to the purchase. Our hotel has three distinct room types, the least expensive room faces the parking lot, the next price tier faces either one of the two pools, or a garden area, and the higher priced rooms, the deluxe, are in the tower section of the hotel. If you choose the standard parking view room and would like to change to a deluxe when you get to the hotel, we are happy to do that, with the associated rate adjustment, based on availabiltiy. A caution on the hotels in the area, many are quite a bit more expensive, and many have resort fees that the Ramada Gateway does not have. We hope you enjoy your stay with whatever property you choose in the area.

The room was dire, the furniture and carpets were old and nasty. It had no wardrobe but a rail with coat hangers on in the bathroom - I'm not kidding! We only stayed one night and had already arranged a 2 night stay at the Hard Rock Hotel in Universal Studios so when we returned from that luxury to the Ramada - we couldnt face staying in that room so we upgraded to a tower room for an extra $10 per night which was much better. Don't book here unless you get a really great package deal, if booking independently don't book at all there are much better hotels around.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a tower room but try not to pay more than £10 a night - haggle

The Ramada is a wonderful place to stay. The staff is so nice. On Monday night of our stay my grandaughter got sick at about 1 am. My daughter went up and askeed for a clean bed set. They brought the sheets right away but didn't bring the blanket and spread. She told them she also needed these and the man immediately went and got them and asked he there was anything else. Everyone was so nice. We always recommend to our friends that are going to Disney to stay at the Ramada Gatreway.

A little more attention to detail and this ramada would be rally a nice place but I can't really say that much negative things about the place the food prices are good not to expensive pool is nice clean they have pool tables in the atrium yes there out side cool ideal the suite was huge bed was comfortable two TVA one in bed room other one in bedroom mix of outdated furnishings and new but that's ok price was good really good size for a family kitchen a mini one if you travel with children opt for a suite on the corner only one wall well worth the price in my view

Room Tip: Opt for a upgrade corner room suites are facing away from the Disney so if you want to look that way...

Nothing fancy here. Shuttle service is quite meager as they were late on day and forgot a couple stops on the way home on another day...which lead to us being on the bus for an hour and a half coming back from sea world!! And don't let the hotel call a cab for you; I saw the cab driver slide a bill or two into the hands of the front desk agent before driving us to Animal Kingdom (just over a mile away, but he drove the LONG way) for $20!! I really felt that the hotel strongly mislead us on that one!
Basic accommodations and clean. We got a little tired of trying to be sold a timeshare by someone set-up in their lobby. Next time in Orlando we'll probably look for a hotel that might cost a bit more but has better shuttle service with more frequent visits, not just one per day.
