Really enjoyed this property. Went for a promotional visit. They provided us with a spacious 2 bedroom Villa. The grounds and amenities were great. Our son and his wife joined us for a couple of days and they also loved it. Only negative was the "2 hour" sales pitch that took over 4 hours. The price you pay for a comp. We bought extra days and it was well worth it. Would recommend Orange Lake.

Thanks for choosing to stay with us, Chuck! We’re delighted to hear that you took advantage of one of our promotional offers and that you had a pleasant experience with us. We’re sorry to see that your property tour took a bit longer than expected but as our team attempts to craft a package that best fits your needs, it may take a bit longer than the scheduled time. You are always able to leave after the scheduled time has been fulfilled. Thank you for your recommendation and we hope to see you again soon!

As you probably know this resort is HUGE..but I mean it is literally a little village in the heart of orlando, you will need your car. And it is a beautiful property.
Checking in to the hotel, I was ready for the timeshare salesman as other reviewers stated but really you had the choice, if you don't want to be stuck on a sales pitch DO NOT REDEEM THE VOUCHER! TAKE YOUR KEY AND GO TO YOUR ROOM. That is all don't even go the 'special desk' and off you go.

We had requested on our reservation to be as close as possible to the pool(lazyriver) little that we know every village has its own pool! We stayed in west village ,same building as the reception. We got the suite and very much satisfied, it is clean, modern also has full kitchen with dishwasher.

In the back is the Water's Edge Beach Club which has many activities some of course extra cost. It also has two big pools and jacuzzi, the restaurant/bar has activities throughout the day for the kids up till 9pm.

River village which has the lazy river we went late afternoon it wasn't too crowded so it was fun and relaxing. We were aware of the tube rentals and ready to pay, we couldn't find the tube place and just start swimming, there are lots of tubes in pool we just grabbed them and was never asked. Now the Hippo (world's largest inflatable slide), was super fun! our kids couldn't stop sliding for hours, it is $9/day/pp but its worth it.
As we passed by other villages, we took a peek on some of the other pools, if we have time we would've try every single one of them.

All in all we wish we had stay longer, this resort has everything you need to enjoy your vacation without getting out. Staffs are very friendly from the front desk to the pool staffs, when we couldn't find our way they actually walk with us to show.
We can't wait to be back here, thank you for a wonderful stay!

Room Tip: west village then north village has nicer pools and much quieter than river village

Thank you so much! It was a pleasure to host you recently and welcome back from your visit. We’re happy to see that you found our resort to be well-appointed and to meet your family’s needs. Our resort is much larger than the traditional property but it’s great to see that you found your way nicely and took time to explore all the fun! The Play Passes are a great way to take in the awesome premium amenities at River Island and around the resort, including the gigantic HIPPO slide! We hope to have you back again in the future to take in the good times you may have missed out on, you’re welcome any time!

Must admit after reading some of the reviews, I was a little concerned about booking a stay at this resort. However, we were very pleasantly surprised. Check-in was very smooth. I had called ahead and requested a newly renovated villa on the first floor, which is exactly what we received. As far as the timeshare "push," when approached by the escort who immediately took our Welcome Package and $20 voucher, we very politely but firmly told her we had absolutely no interest in the timeshare presentation. We told her to keep the voucher and went on our way. Never received phone calls to our villa.

We were assigned to the East Village. Our 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom villa was immaculate and had everything we needed. Did not encounter any of the issues mentioned by previous guests, including the smell from Animal Kingdom. We did have 6 air conditioners outside our living room window, but were not bothered by them, so did not feel the need to call and request another villa. We would have had to stand on the couch if we wanted to see them. The screened-in patio was a great place to enjoy the view.

We did rent a car at the airport, so traveling around the resort was a breeze. Never had a problem finding a parking spot anywhere we went. There is a shuttle but having your own transportation makes life so much easier. Spent most of our time at River Island. From the East Village, River Island is actually closer than the West Village. Loved the Lazy River! We purchased the Play Pass which included the tube rental, which worked out well for us.

Our experience with the staff was very positive. Can't comment on housekeeping and maintenance as we never had to call them. We knew from reading reviews, that daily housekeeping was not included. The grounds were very well maintained and beautiful.

We ate at Breezes for dinner one night. The food was enjoyable and our server was very attentive. However, we chose to utilize the kitchen in our villa for most meals, or eat off property so we had more funds available for the fun stuff. Our goal for this trip was to have a relaxing, no pressure vacation, which we definitely achieved.

Bottom line: Do your research, set your priorities, and have fun.

Room Tip: Call ahead and request a newly renovated room. East Village is very quiet. River Island is more suit...

We can’t be happier to hear about your experience with us! You certainly give a detailed outline of some of the fun and excitement that our guests can find at Orange Lake Resort. We’re glad that we could get you started with a villa that fulfilled your request and provided you with the room you needed to relax. It looks like you enjoyed East Village and found the time to explore the property as well, including eating at some of our restaurants on site. We’d love to have you back for a return visit soon, thanks again for your feedback.

I have come to "Orange Lake Country Club" since I was a child. I saw it expand, improve, expand more, and now spiral out into sub-mediocrity. Ever since management changed to "Holiday Inn" it has really has lost it's charm and now is run quite poorly. The rooms, facilities, etc. are all fair, but the way everything is now managed is horrible. The ice maker in our freezer was broken and it took a week for it to get fixed (all the while, people not knowing what was going on or not believing that there was truly a problem). The mosquito netting was half torn off our patio balcony. Very few of the staff are cordial or are able to do anything with any efficiency or great knowledge of how the resort should be run.

I do wish that this place had not expanded the way that it has. It used to be quite large, but still maintained a family feel. It most certainly does not have that anymore. It has outgrown its capabilities.

It's sad to say, but after coming here for almost 30 years, I don't think I'll be coming back anymore...

Do not stay here under any circumstances.
HOUSEKEEPING is thieves and resort has no accountability for their actions.
The best they could do was provide a telephone number for the orange county sheriff department.
I will be calling to initiate an investiagtion - absolutely unacceptable.
There are many more options in this area - please think twice!!

I just recently returned from Orange Lake Resort. The resort is gigantic very likely the biggest resort I've been too. When we checked in I asked how far was our room the response was just 2 miles O_o.. We stayed in the East Village room 86212. The room was great in every aspect. I was traveling in a party of 4. The 2 bedroom suite accommodated us perfectly, the room was inclusive of a kitchen, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, blender, pots, pans and utensils, living room and 2 bedrooms and bathrooms, washer/dryer and vacuum. I have no complaints about the room. My only issue was the distance from our room to the main happening section of the resort. While there is shuttle service in my opinion renting a car to get around the resort is a MUST. The pool is amazing though I didn't get to spend much time there, we ate at Island Grille a few nights the food is really good. Overall I would recommend the resort as it is lovely and seems to be great for kids. My only advice would be request a suite closer to the pool area otherwise you'll be driving/shuttling to it.

Room Tip: ask for a room near the main pool

Hi there, Crystal. We’re delighted that you had an enjoyable experience with us. Also, it’s great to see that your villa was perfect for you and your party, offering you plenty of room to relax. Our property is much larger than the traditional resort, but we try to give our guest little reason to leave with independent villages, on-site dining, and activities that will keep you busy all vacation long! We would love to see you again soon to share in some more good times with us. Thanks for your feedback!

The review is a mixed one as I have to weigh the terrible first 3 hours of our stay against the one week of bliss that followed.

On check-in we received a room in the basement of the main building (the floor under the main lobby) which was HORRIBLE - do not accept one of these rooms! The access was via a dirty corridor in-between laundry carts which lead to an unvacuumed hallway and a dark, dusty mouldy-smelling room with a window that faced outdoor air conditioner units. We were expecting a full kitchen with a full fridge for allergy reasons which it did not have. It took 3 hours of negotiating with the staff of the hotel (who claimed there were no other rooms left in a resort of 2,478 villas!), Hotels.com (who did not help one bit) and finally the manager to get upgraded to a 2 bedroom villa.

The villas was FABULOUS! It was spacious, clean and well-equipped with a peaceful view on the golf course. The kitchen was wonderful - it was like being home. We did not spend much time at the hotel itself so I cannot really comment except that it was several swimming pools, good amenities including Starbucks coffee.

The location was great. There was a supermarket and an emergency walk-in medical clinic just around the corner. Disney was about 15 minutes away by car and SeaWorld parks less than 30 minutes.
