“Very disappointing....”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

Where do we start? Check in was okay, but we were immediately shuffled over to get "discount" attraction/golf tickets. We normally don't agree to the time share presentations, but we thought we would save some money... and they said it would only be an hour (more on this in a bit).
We checked into our villa, it was West Village. These are the oldest units there. They have done a few upgrades (counters, floors etc..), but still seemed out-dated (the tv's were not flat screen). We were right at the 4th hole on one of the golf courses too. Having three young children, we were concerned with their safety. We did call to express our concern, but they refused to accomodate us or make other suggestions. We also informed them of our screen which had fallen off as soon as we opened the door. They did come and fix it.
We went to our time share presentation the following morning. Of course the one hour turned into three hours. I think they couldn't believe that we didn't love their resort!!!! What they showed us compared to our unit was totally different. Anyhow, we did get our discount play pass tickets. Don't buy them....you don't need them. What a waste of money. We can't believe they charge for such things as mini golf, the hippo slide, a tube for the lazy river!!!! You can't bring your own beer to the pool either. More money spent......
Speaking of pools. You have to drive or take a shuttle to get to any pool. The pool areas are nice, but cluttered and hard to find a chair (especially at River Island).
We golfed at Legend's Walk. That was nice for a walking course. Make sure you reserve tee times as soon as you get there. The other courses fill up fast. We could only golf the one day.
For a resort (which prides itself on gold crown too), it was very costly and not relaxing. Too big and obnoxious for our liking. Never again!!!!

7 pools -one per day for a week. The place is clean,we stayed in the tennis villas in a2 bedroom unit on the 6th floor, it had a screened in porch (not on the sunny side). These were located nearest the lobby center and near two large active pool areas there's a Beach to sit at but NOT swim. Some pools were heated and warm enough to swim in March. There are lots of ammenities -restaurants, shopping, etc on site. plus it's close driving to Disney. This is a cashless resort - you must use a credit card. Drawbacks were u have to pay extra to use floating tubes$9. Ea Per day at lazy river. Our clothes dryer had little heat. The pools are scattered over acres of space in this huge complex so u probably should have a car to drive around ,there is a bus but we didn't use it. They did NOT accommodate our family who had completed 2 weeks of paid timeshare and wanted a3rd week extra -the resort refused them even though MANY other units including the one they were stayin in for 2weeks, were actually empty and available for the 3rd week. We aren't sports people but there was tennis, golf, basketball, arcades for others all for a price I'm sure. If you want coffee or hot cocoa -in public areas -your paying for that if u want to use computer your paying for that, but there is one PC to use to print your plane tickets. Outside of the resort are plenty of restaurants -cheap eats -so getting dinner just outside resort is easy. I would advise against a timeshare-beware its expensive.

Hello and thank you for taking the time to reach out to us regarding your recent stay. We are disappointed that you did not find your vacation stay enjoyable. Unless our resort is 100% full, which is very common in the month of March due to spring break, we are always more than happy to accommodate our guests who would like to extend their stay. With nine pools, a lazy river, hot tubs and so much more, we strive to offer something for each and every one of our guests around the resort. We also offer complimentary wi-fi service throughout the resort for our guests. We apologize that vacation ownership does not seem to fit with what you are looking for in a vacation, but we would love to host you again anytime.

decided to use our remaining time share points for a quick get away. we love the location and the fact that the resort have restaurants near the main reception area. we found the room updated and comfortable, but the hallways were a bit tired and needed updating. we would stay here again but would book in the more updated areas of the resort next time.

Room Tip: if you're travelling as a couple, you may want to stay in the building where the main reception...

Welcome home from your recent stay with us. We enjoy hearing from all of our guests about their stays with us. We are disappointed to hear that your accommodations on your past trip did not live up to your vacation expectations. Orange Lake is a gorgeous, expertly maintained resort. The suites are the size of your typical condo apartments, with a fully appointed kitchen, laundry machines and bathrooms. The master baths are huge. My mother liked it so much after our first stay @ Orange Lake in 2010 that she invested in a time share ownership. Since then, we've visted Orlando again, and also the new property in Las Vegas. The client care and service at Orange Lake is definitely first rate. The staff are all very friendly and eager to assist you with whatever you need.

There are several well-kept golf courses of varying difficulty at Orange Lake, and several very nice swimming pools, in addition to several small stores and several restaurants that serve a variety of food styles. With a few of the restaurants, you can have take-out delivered directly to your suite. There is also a Publix grocery store just outside the property near the second entrance gate, in addition to a Walgreens just across the highway from the main gate, and another one a few kilometres down. Target and Wal Mart are also nearby, as are several restaurants including iHop- my family's favorite. The resrort also has a variety of activities for guests as well- read the brochures in the room or ask the front desk to find out exactly what's going on while you're there.

Disney's Epcot and Animal Kingdom parks are also very close, as is Downtown Disney. Epcot's nigthly fireworks can be seen from several vantage points at Orange Lake. Watching Disney fireworks without getting crushed in a crowd was really great...

One thing I will say about the Orlando property is that the place is enormous. I think it is one of the largest resorts of its kind in the world. The propery is absolutely massive, and they still have room to expand. They have shuttles that go around the entire resort, but the stops are not always close by your room. On our most recent stay in 2012, we had asked for a room near one of the pools, but we ended up quite a distance away from any pool, and any shuttle stop as well. We could have easily jumped a fence and traipsed across a golf course, but we didn't like the idea. My mother and I both have trouble walking big distances due to injuries. Next time we go, I think we are going to be more insistent about the location of the room we're given. One of our favourite things about Orange Lake is the swimming pools, and it really sucked being so far away the last time we visited.

We don't drive when we're in Orlando, and having to call for a special shuttle pick-up each time we wanted to go to the pool gets annoying really quickly.

Other than that, the place is awesome. You will not be dissappointed.

We visited Orange Lake in May 2010 and December 2011/January 2012, but I couldn't click anything for those dates. We didn't visit in April 2012- that was just the earliest travel date to click...

Room Tip: If you like lounging by the pool, make darn sure your room is as close as the front desk clerk says...

Have made a reservation travelling from the UK with a 10 month old.It has so far proved IMPOSSIBLE to get a guarantee of the provision of a crib and high chair. All they will say is that it is on a first come first served basis and we should hire one from an outside supplier to be certain. Not really acceptable given that they will have had 6 months notice of the request
How hard can it be.......

Hello and thank you for taking the time to review your recent experience with us. We would like to address your concerns regarding a crib in your villa. The resort has a limited number of cribs available for guest use. These are available on a first-come-first-serve basis once our guests arrive at the resort. Because we never know the exact number of guests needing cribs from day to day, we encourage our guests to utilize an outside company should they know they will be needing such provisions during our peak times. We apologize that we were not able to honor your previous request. However, our staff is available 24/7 to help you address and needs or concerns during your trip.

This is a massive resort with town home-type condos - there is parking directly in front of each unit. Our two-bedroom unit was very large, clean, and well-maintained. It included a small but fully-equipped kitchen, and washer/dryer. We were not expecting such nice accommodations at this price; previously we stayed at other comparable places in the area which were dated yet more expensive. It is not a full-service hotel; there is no daily room cleaning (unless you wish to pay for it) and no typical room service. This did not detract at all from our experience. We wanted to make our own breakfasts at the unit, then head out to the Orlando attractions for the day.

The pool areas are beautiful and well-maintained. There is no poolside service but each pool has at least one bar / eatery. There are ample sunbathing chairs; it was refreshing not to arrive at the pool only to find every seat "reserved" with a towel.

Other reviewers have complained about timeshare people hounding them. If you simply tell them you are not interested, they stop bothering you. If you are desperate to pick up some discounted attraction tickets, it is your own fault for wasting their time and yours by signing up for a sales pitch.

It takes about 30 minutes to briskly walk from one end of this complex to the other so expect to drive or take their shuttle service from your unit to the pool. We personally liked the walk, but there are no sidewalks in many areas.

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. If you are expecting a hotel-type experience you will be disappointed but for those looking for spacious, quiet, home-like accommodations, it will likely be a good fit.

We were pleasantly surprised. everything was so clean. The pools are great. We have 5yr old twins and a 3yr old and the splash pool area was perfect for the whole family. Adults were able to lounge while the children splashed safely in 12in and 36in pools. Thank you for the well thought out design. Loved how large the 2nd bedroom was...plenty of room. And the kids played safely each morning on the screened in porch. We preferred the hotel area over the villas for that reason. Thanks for keeping it so clean. Loved it so much we are going again in April.
