“Clean, Spacious, Great Location, Helpful, but.....”

Orange Lake Resort and Country Club

In our party...Grandma, Grandad, Mummy, Daddy, Three year old & 10month old
Booked through RCI
Everything was as we expected within the accomodation it was spacious, clean & very private. We had a two bedroom (one room had one king bed the other with two king beds & the lounge had a sofa bed) two bathroom unit with fully equipped kitchen dinning room & terrace with lawn area it was unit 2423 in West Village.
It was great however the Lazy River complex is promoted & the perception given is that it is big & beautiful, it's not very big at all! We went in mid-Nov & it was very quiet we consequently had a lovely time playng in the water etc however I'd hate to go in a busy time as there just isn't enought to do; it actually states pool capacity is 46 this is for the pool with the only water slide which is very short (approx 20ft) yet there are approx 200+ sunbeds around the area - even with it being very quiet the children (ours included) were heading for the slide & due to the lack of any lifeguard some children & their adult compaions were being very stupid & standing up on each other & surfing - this doesn't help when you're explaining to a three year old how to play-safely. The whole resort is immaculate it looks like a pretty film set & is pleasant & welcoming.
We brought our Disney tickets using the offer promoted to us that if we went to a one hour talk we'd get the discount, we weighed it up & decided to attend however wished we hadn't bothered not only did they waffle on for too long,(3 hours+) it was a very hard sell & ended with the salesman insulting my father & basicaly because we had no intention of purchasing becuase we own a timeshare locally in the UK (where we use the sports facitlites all year) they were really rude. It put a big dampener on the day & ruined our pleasant perception of the place. We had stayed at Orange Lake about fifteen years ago & it was actualy better then as it seems they have got too big & although efficient at their job they have lost the personal touch - you are just another punter they hope to sell a timeshare to.
Location is great for getting to the attractions.

Another point is we hired our cars from Dollar at the airport, if there is a big que when you get to the rental desk, go across to the other terminal, we hired a trolley boy & he was worth his weight in gold; on his advise we changed terminals to a Dollar desk with no que we would have had to wait approx two hours in the original que. Also we needed two car seats, we hired them from Dollar for one night then went to Walmart & brought two to use for the duration of the hoiday it was far cheaper than hire & we just gave them away at the airport on the way home.

Overall we had a fantatic time. Happy Holidays!

“Beautiful Resort”

Orange Lake Resort and Country Club

We exchanged 2 weeks for 2 two-bedroom units (we brought my parents along). Since we booked through RCI we knew we were going to be staying in the West Village. I emailed and called to request the North Village if possible. Upon check-in we were given a unit in the west village. We explained to the girl that we have a 3 and 5 year old and would like to stay in the North Village near the pool. She asked if we would rather have 2 units together in the West or separate in the North. After seeing the construction in the West Village and by the looks of the outside of the units I decided that we should go for being away from my parents in the North Village. It turns out she found 2 units next to one another in the North anyway. Once the West Village is renovated I'm sure it will be nice but right now it is all torn up. The pool is not very nice (also not heated) and there is no swimming aloud at the beach. The North Village was amazing. Our rooms were great, right on the golf course and a nice screened in porch. The pools in the North Village are perfect for families with young children. We also had a great time in the Lazy River at River Island. The resort is big and you have to drive most places. Definitely request a room close to the pool if you plan to do a lot of swimming. Disney is also easy to get to, only a 10 minute drive. Having a 7 day Disney Pass we found it hard to decide which we'd rather do, stay the day at Disney or go back to the resort. The kids almost always said lets go back and go swimming. They called us twice to ask if we would come to a sales presentation. First they offered us $50 then it went up to $80. We politely declined and they were fine with that. Overall, I'd say Orange Lake is an excellent vacation destination and we will definitely be going back.

They have what they call a "Water Park" and it's just a small lazy river with one blowup game, that's all.

They called me every day very early in the morning trying to take me to their sale presentations. I had to keep my phone disconnected and hide.......................

My husband, I and our 3 boys ages 4,3, and 17 months used my fathers timeshare exchange for this unit. A month before we were due to arrive I contacted the resort and requested a unit in the East vilage. They said they would put in a request for us but couldn't guarantee anything. When we checked in we were indeed put in and East village unit. The unit itself was nice. The view from the balcony was spectacular. We could see the golf course and at night we could see the fireworks from the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and MGM (from the Fantasmic show). We did have a problem with housekeeping. We had brought our pack n play from home for our 17 month old to sleep in and on our second day there we went to Magic Kingdom. When we returned that night our pack n play was gone along with our babies blanket. Nothing else had been done to the condo so I don't know why housekeeping was even there. Nothing else was missing so we assumed this was a mistake and that housekeeping thought the pack n play belonged to the resort but I still don't know why they took the blanket. We called the front desk and told them about it. They sent us a resort pack n play to use that night since no one was there at the time that could help us. When returned the next night the blanket was back but our pack n play was still missing. They did eventually figure everything out and we got it back a few days later. Still...we don't know why they were in our unit that day in the first place. Overall...the place is beautiful. It is huge though. We didn't do any swimming or dining at the resort so I can't comment on that. All in all it was a decent stay...with my favorite part being the view. But considering that housekeeping was in our unit on a day they shouldn't have been and they took our personal items...I won't stay here again.

Booked a 3 BR unit via RCI over thanksgiving. Arrival / check in in tents and trailors (as under construction) was horrific and took hours. Finally arrived at the unit which was in a burb housing development of 1940s dated and worn track homes. You could take a bus to the pools but I'm sorry - whos idea of a vac is to stay in a worn out house in the middle of nowhere? We quickly changed to Hilto Grand. Will NEVER GO BACK and discouraged to have wasted a day of my vac checking into this dump. There are nice units however I was told by RCI and by the property themselves that only the new owers get those.
