“Beautiful Sunsets”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2011

We had the pleasure of staying at Indigo Reef for two nights. The grounds, from the moment you cross the sculpted metal gates at the front, are meticulously maintained. When you approach the unit you make your way up a few steps through tropical foliage and enter the downstairs area (kitchen, living and dining). The kitchen is quite spacious and the entire area is furnished with tasteful island decor. The upstairs master suite is well appointed with a private bath featuring its own tub and seperate walk in shower. There is also a private deck that benefits from the beautiful views. The other two bedrooms, a queen in one and twins in the other, share a bathroom. These two rooms are a bit tight but are very comfortable and met our needs. There is a narrow deck that is shared between these two bedrooms overlooking the parking areas/ grounds. The only thing that was not provided was shampoo, extra garbage bags, dishwashing detergent or papertowels.
The pool is an enourmous relaxing oasis. The deepest part was around five feet near the center. My favorite part was the views... You look out over a bay on the gulf side and the sunsets are magnificent looking out over grassy expanses dotted with bougainvillea. Imagine sitting on a porch with a chilled beverage watching the day sink into the glistening waters.
We stayed in unit #47. We have booked next year for a family reunion and plan to make use of the docks that are available. If you are thinking of booking then look at different sites, VRBO, Flipkey, etc for the best rate but whatever you do... do not hesitate to stay here.
Last note: Do not miss Catch em all fishing charter- Guaranteed great time.

We stayed in Indigo Reef for spring break with 4 teenagers. They enjoyed the pool especially in the afternoon. It is heated and surrounded by tropical flowers.
The location is down a long driveway, but it is still walkable to a couple of restaurants and Walgreens.
This is a great location by boat.- just around from the Vaca Cut with a decent channel and calm dockage. There are several boat rental places nearby and Tropical delivered and picked up from the dock for no extra charge.
The units seemed similar in decor and the Master bedroom was large. We all loved the porch and balconies to sit out and enjoy the peacefulness. The two other bedrooms are smaller, but seem larger than similar floorplans at Tranquility Bay or Hawks Cay.
The kitchen was fully furnished and we cooked our fish or just ate leftover pizza from Driftwood Pizza down the street. We cannot wait until our next trip. We have rented 6 other homes/townhomes in Florida and this is our families favorite.

Our family of five stayed at Indigo Reef in March and loved it. We were in a three bedroom condo.

Pros:
The condo was very clean and looked brand new. The living area downstairs was nice and spacious. It was also great having so many patios (3). The beds are very comfortable and the condos have a great beachy vibe to them. The condo community is nice and quiet and the pool is big. We never had trouble finding 5 chairs at the end of the day. The community is located pretty convniently off of US 1 (but far enough to feel some peace and quiet) and it is a great jumping off point for experiencing the keys (hour to Key West, hour and a half to Key Largo). Also, we LOVED the fact we didnt need to check in. They supply a code that allows you to access a key in a lockbox on your front porch. So easy!

Cons: (just a few things to be aware of)
This community is designed to be for longer stays, so they expect you to stock up on essentials while you are there. Because of that, they provide only the starting bit for your stay. For example, there is no coffee, no napkins, one extra roll of toilet paper per bathroom, enough dish soap for 2 loads, enough detergent for 1 load, and only one set of toiletries per full bath. None of these are replaced throughout your stay. As far as cooking, if you need anything more than salt and pepper, be prepared to buy it. The back bedrooms are also pretty small (the master is very big), but they would be great for kids.

All in all, it was a great trip and we would absolutely return.

Tip: if you want to stay for less than a week, just call the reservation number. Online it allows for stays by the week (same price for 4 days or 7 days), but if you call, they will give you the daily rate.

Stayed at Indigo Reef for week at the end of Feb. 2011. Flew down to Miami then rented a car and drove to Marathon (the dirve is every bit of the 2.5 hours that googlemaps says it is, so budget your time accordingly). The condos were pretty sharp looking and really clean. The kitchen was well-outfitted with everything that we needed (and we often cook our meals when we travel). The beds were quite comfortable both the king my wife and I had and the two twins our children had (ages 10 and 12). The condo had a washer and dryer, which really helps as we don't want to check luggage if we can avoid it. Furnishings were ok, nothing to write home about, but they did the job for the week. Oh, almost forgot, there were 6 beach towels for your use in the condo. That's a real bonus in my book. On the downside, this condo, while great isn't dripping with warmth. In some of the other places we've stayed, there were cool odds and ends like board games, journals which past residents filled out, extra beach "stuff", etc. I kinda missed not having a place with personality, but I got over it pretty quickly. Also, the grounds are very pretty and well maintained.

Perhaps the coolest surprise was the 3 decks that the condo had. One off of our master bedroom, one off the living room and one off the kids bedroom. Most of the units looked to have a very similar layout, so I don't think you could wrong with any of them.

The pool was really warm and had salt (not fresh) water, which was a surprise. And the pool area was one of the nicer parts of the grounds...really big with lots of great plants/trees.

The condos had many older adults, but they were pretty tolerant of kids playing and splashing around (my son only got growled at once when he splashed a woman reading a book while lounging in the pool...my son says, 'come on lady, you're reading a paperback in the pool, what do you think is going to happen.')

Overall, I'd return to this condo complex, but I'm not sure that I'd go back to Marathon. We had a good time, but in a week, we did most of what we'd want to do. I would recommend that if you want a "party-boat" fishing experience (where lots of people go out to fish together), you use the Marathon Lady, which is right across the street from Indigo Reef. It was a really great time and they did great with my kids! We caught a ton of cool looking fish, really unique.

Also, within a short drive (or walk to the drug store) was most of what you need: gas, grocery, liquor, etc. I love not having to travel too far for this kind of stuff when on vacation.

We had a great week's stay at Indigo Reef. It's central location in Marathon, FL meant even the farthest stretches of the keys were less than 1.5 hours away. With Bahia Honda State Park less than 20 minutes from our door, we couldn't have asked for better accommodations. Our townhouse, #25 was a roomy 3 bedroom. Although we (2 couples) only used 2 bedrooms I can imagine the place holding 2 families, with kids very well.

I don't think we ran into more than 5 other people at a time during our entire week-long stay. Of course we stayed during a slow time of year 10/9 - 10/16. The pool was spacious & well maintained. The grounds were beautiful @ the geckos, anoles & iguana were all interesting to watch.

If only we could find an Indigo Reef in every location around the world, I would be truly happy. We initially chose Idigo Reef as a second choice really, as we could not get the availability over New Year at Tranquility Bay, which on paper seemed the better resort, due to the facilities etc but how lucky we were. We did visit Tranquility Bay for a meal at the Butterfly Cafe and a good Nosey around and although good, it did not offer the privacy or serenity of Indigo Reef, although Indigo Reef does not have a shop or restaurant, there are a number of choices within walking distance and more within a few miles but you do have to self cater and or drive to get to most places. After New year, we almost had the entire place to ourselves, the pool was lovely when heated, although I think they did turn it off when most people left after the holidays and it was a little chilly then. The houses are fantastic with great views and everything catered for. Any problems (there were very few) and the local management team sorted it out very quickly. We stayed in a 3 bedroom villa and I think I will definitely go again. £ for £ I don't think we could have got this sort of quality accomodation and surroundings anywhere else in the world over New Year, it was a real find. I only wish Singh resorts would create more of these elsewhere in the US, as soon as they do, please let me know.

Just returning from another fabulous stay at Indigo Reef in Marathon, FL. This was a returning trip for our family that was there for the first time two years ago. If you love to boat, love to swim and love to veg well then this is the pplace for you. Our family rents a boat for a weekfrom Tropic Boat Rental. The accomodations are great, roomy and very clean. We were near the pool that made it very easy to bring drinks out to during our swims.
