The location, landscaping, "key west" architecture, pool, and overall feel is perfect. If you want to go to this resort;

Don't expect the staff to smile or give you direct eye contact. Don't expect to have towels for the pool. Don't expect the staff to pick up beach or dock area every night. Don't expect great service when ordering food or drinks because the 18 % tip is automatically added on all orders including boat rental.
Don't expect help with your luggage.
Don't expect them to tell you where the luggage carts are kept.
Don't expect them to refer you to a fishing charter without making a fee.

If you watched Seinfeld's "Soup Nazi" episode, you know that people stood in line and put up with the Soup Nazi to get the soup. Why? The soup was spectacular! I will go back but I will know what to expect. The soup is really good!

We found our dream beach house in Villa#3 at tranquility Bay beach resort. The villa was beautiful and clean and right on the beach. We watched wonderful sunsets from our porch. If you are looking for a quiet, low key, beautiful place to stay this is it. Our kids loved the pool. After coming from Disneyworld this was a refreshing change of scenery. If you like to do things on your own, don't need many services and activities to entertain you, don't mind going to Publix to stock up on supplies and want to chill out on the beach, this is the resort for you. Otherwise Hawks key is a better option.

We were at Tranquility Bay for a week over Spring Break. The hotel is centrally located in the Keys for easy sightseeing. The beach houses themselves are quite nice and very clean. Housekeeping was a bit sparse, but as we felt we were in a 'home' and not a hotel, did not mind picking up after ourselves a bit. It would be great if there were full size brooms and dust bins in the houses, so that the sand could be swept up. The beach bar was quite good, and we had good experiences at the waterfront sports area. Remember that the beach houses are right on top of each other and the walls are quite thin. We shared a wall with a family from England with three young children. Due to their time difference, the kids were in bed by 7:00pm, but out on the porch and sand by 6:00am. Proved rather difficult to sleep in, but is was spring break so this was to be expected. There were two weddings while we were there, but the only inconvenience was the early closing of the main pool. As we were on the beach, the noise didn't bother us. Was TB worth $700-$800/night?? Not sure. Beautiful grounds, nice accomodations with plenty of space, good location. But $5500 for a week (during spring break though) seems a bit steep for Florida.

I would have to agree with other travellers about the non-existant service at Tranquility Bay...When we checked in we were given a very bare bones welcome packet....Our room was missing towels and sheets. The staff was extremely rude especially the men at the boating rental area. There is no drink service at the pool. The kitchen was minimally equipped for cooking. I think the label "resort" is a bit misleading here...basically you are on your own. Plan to hit Publix and stock up on snacks, drinks etc.... The room was absolutely beautiful and quite clean. The view was wonderful. I would not bring teenagers here again unless I had a plan for a variety of off site activities. I think our family would have preffered a place with more activity and food choices....The butterfly cafe looked wonderful but not a place I would bring a group of children to eat....very fancy. I would definitely come back here alone with my husband but not with a large group of kids.

We booked this as a family vacation and the facility is very nice. Attention to detail and customer service is NOT part of the package. We had a coffee maker, but no coffee filters; and housekeeping is a joke. We asked for fresh towels, as were told "oh yeah, we will bring them by when we are done washing and drying them", this was at 6 p.m. at night. Towels never did show up, had to go to office to ask for them. We had called prior to arriving to ask about snorkeling and were told we didn't need reservations, no problem. Upon arrival, we were told we could snorkel on Friday, not Thursday as we had planned. When we made reference to our plan for Key West on Friday we were told we could "snorkel Friday morning, come back shower and then go to Key West" and the cost for snorkeling was $44.00 with or without equipment. NOTE: You can get a GREAT snorkel trip at Bahia State Park for $29.00. The silver lining of the resort is The Butterfly Cafe, where the STAFF is Amazing, the Chef is even more amazing and the food incredible! Every entree ordered was a delight. We would drive in from Key West, or Key Largo for the Butterfly Cafe, but will not be back to the resort.
