“nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

The owners are some of the nicest people on the planet. The hotel is older but it was clean and comfortable. Its a little bit away from the center of marathon but not a bad drive. Its a peaceful and relaxing setting away from the main part of town. There are lush tropical plants all around you at this hotel. My daughter loved the white bird that would say "I love you". Over all its a nice place and definitely a very "keys style" hotel.

Room Tip: bring bug spray to the keys when you go!

My daughter and I and our 120 lbs. Labadoodle by the name of Jack had a wonderful time. Our stay at Gulf View was very nice. From the rooms to the pool and the grounds was just awesome. The room was clean, and cozy. We enjoyed the grill and the patio out back from our room. The owner and his family were very pleasant and helpful. We will be back. I miss the place already. I love the fact that they are pet friendly, which means alot to us. See you next year!

We headed down to the Gulf View Waterfront Resort to attend a wedding, which also took place at this quaint spot. The view was wonderful from the dock on the property where the kayaks and canoes (free for guest use) sat waiting for us to take them out on the gulf. We relaxed there, fishing pole in hand watching the wild iguanas sun themselves on the banks of the resort. Mike even loaned me some necessities to supplement my fishing tackle. The younger children in our group refused to let us remain at the water too long. After all, there was an elevated swimming pool calling and an exotic bird and turtle 'habitat' for the guests to enjoy. There was just enough time to rest in the hammocks before cooking dinner on the arsenal of gas grills available for the guests.

After reading the complimentary reviews we decided on this resort for a few days vacation. The grounds didn't appear to be well taken care of, the free kayaks were in poor repair, the dock was slippery and dangerous. There is no swimming in the bay here as it is very shallow and think with smelly brown weeds. The window air conditioner was so noisy that sleep was impossible. There was no kitchen counter work top as the space was taken up by the double sink. The stove is so close to the window that the blinds were warped from the heat. The microwave is so high up that the housekeeper must not have been able to see it as it was not clean at all. There were cockroaches in the shopping bags that were left as a convenience of the guests. It was difficult to enjoy the pool as it seemed everyone there was smoking. The location is actually Grassy Key and quite a distance to the town of Marathon.

we were very pleased with our stay here..nice,clean and cozy rooms...loved taking the supplied paddle boats out and also the fact that it is a small place so there's not a lot of traffic coming and going.

We stayed in the pelican room with 3 kids and 3 adults. Although the living room area is quite small, the space was sufficient for what we needed. Nobody wants to stay in their room all day at the keys! The room was very clean and we had our outside patio, complete with picnic table and propane BBQ. The kitchen had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The water pressure in the shower was great - especially after a long day at the beach. The staff were friendly and the kids loved the canoes, paddle boats and pool. I would definitely recommend for travelers with kids who want to keep costs down. There were also couples staying there and everyone was respectful in regards to noise. All in all it's a great place to stay. We will be back.

My family of three stayed in room 17. The room is spacious with full kitchen. We didn't cook but the refrigerator/freezer is big enough to store our two days of fishing. Mike, the owner is very friendly and help make our stay better. Room 17 is located on 2nd floor with great view. We initially thought of Holiday Inn Express, but can't justify to pay $90 more per day. We made the right decision.
