“We loved it and we would definitely come back”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2011

I am sorry this review is so long since our stay. However, it has been on my mind to mention this hotel. I stayed with my daughter and two grandchildren while visiting the Dolphin Research Centre. We were looking for a reasonable place to stay in the Keys while visiting the Research Centre and Gulf View came up. We had two nights and had to pack a lot into that time.
Our hosts were very helpful with finding places to eat that were close by and children friendly. We were close enough to walk to the Dolphin Centre if we didn't have so much to carry. The room itself was clean and comfortable. We had adequate space in the room but the balcony off the walkout extended our space for the children to play. We all enjoyed the pet birds and tortises, the glass bottom kayak, pool and picnic grounds.
The grounds were also well maintained and safe from the road. Noise from the road was kept to a minimum with lots of privacy trees and the beach/boat ramp was well away from the road. Altogether a very enjoyable experience and would stay here again for sure.

Room Tip: Closest motel to the Dolphin Research Centre.

We recently stayed here for the first time in May and loved it. We stayed in the blue and gold macaw room which had a king size bed, tv, microwave, full size refrigerator, and stove and oven. It was very clean and comfortable. There is a patio outside and it is on the second floor facing the water. There are grills everywhere. Two great shaded hammocks and a very large deep pool. We liked so much we ended up staying an extra night and the staff was very accommodating in helping us move our things. They also provided my husband with a bucket and soap when he asked where he could was the love bugs off our car. They are very helpful and not at all obtrusive. There a boat ramp and free use of kayaks, paddleboats, and a canoe. There is great kayaking near the property in the mangrove tunnels, and you can kayak to the back of the dolphin research center which is right next door. We had a great vacation here and our dog loved it too.

Room Tip: ask for a room facing the water.

Travelled with group of six family and friends. Stayed for two nights before hitting Key West as we knew we needed to chill out before hitting the nightlife there. Gulf View was just the ticket. Gorgeous grounds and pool area. Beautiful view of the gulf. Accommodation was extremely comfortable and very clean. Owners could not have been more helpful and friendly but you only knew they were there if you needed them. Pictures on site are not misleading, expect for pitch and put, which was a very small area and not real grass but, hey, who needs practice golf when you have the gulf view and tropical grounds to relax in. The rooms were very comfortable and clean and we had all we needed. We tried the double hammocks which were great to fall asleep in. This is a place of peace and tranquility which our group, of usually loud adults, enjoyed and chilled to our heart's content. Coco, the cockatoo, is a dream and we have her on video saying "I love you". Really enjoyed feeding chopped grapes to the turtle, who was a darling. Well done Gulf View. Thanks for your service and the warm welcome that you gave us.

Room Tip: Rooms on 2nd floor have best view of gulf

larger efficent rooms, clean, bathtubs in some rooms (hard to find in the keys) great shower pressure. everything at your fingertips, as it should be while on vacation! great owners; great property. a few steps to all you need in and out of the room! if u want to be in a central location to visit north and south areas of the keys! this is a quiet and tranquil spot, 8 miles from marathon for groceries or gas, but if u want to stay in a concrete parking lot .. head 8 miles south. we stayed in #17 and this is one of their better rooms/views.. mike( owner) said it was great and it was fabulous! the grassy key/marathon area is one of my favorite spots and now GULFVIEW will be my new home while visiting the keys even if just 4 days! aaaa...my bf and i are florida natives from st.pete beach and we go to the beach and fish all the time, but nothing compares to the keys! we brought our own kayaks, but even though we used them the resort had really nice free ones to use whenever..i even took one of theirs out just because i could. this is a self catering property, very user friendly and out of the way owners yet there if u need them and free coffee and housekeeping daily! just know we looked at 6 properties near the resort and non compared for us. we came to relax on a hammock by the water, fish and catch bait fish from their dock and local bridges and clean our fresh catch with their fully equipt dock, kayak in the protected lagoon area that has a cool tunnel in the mangroves to another little lagoon, swim in the pool while listening to the soothing fountain, swim at the state parks beaches, hang at the resorts beach area tiki hut staring out at thegulfview (and it's an amazing view), play with all the birds, iguana and tortoise's(my favorite part.. feeding them and they are very quiet in their private garden) visit mm0/key west and grill our fresh catch three nites in a row right on the private gas grills and patio/ tables! we did all of that and then some! thanks again GULFVIEW!

Room Tip: ask for gulfview, 2 floor is best views

This place is fantastic! Our group included myself, my Wife, 13yr old son, and my Mother. We were ALL very pleased with our stay to say the least! We left the resort once to visit Key West, but will skip that part next time as we enjoyed our time here more! And yes, there will be many more next times! Mike and Stephanie are great and are very good at giving you tips about the area. We stayed in one of the two bedroom apartments, and had more than enough room for all. It was very clean and COOL inside! The grounds are well kept and could not be more inviting. We made good use of the dock, kayaks, paddle boats, clean cool pool, and hammocks! One of the kayaks has a clear bottom! I'm glad we chose to stay in Marathon! At night you can walk out on the dock and look up at a sky full of stars!!! When looking to the north, you see a glow from lights on Islamorada, to the south are lights from Key West. In Marathon, it is just right for stargazing! I hesitate to post this review as I hope I never find a lack of availability, lol! But you simply owe it to yourself to enjoy a stay at this wonderful slice of paradise! Thanks again to all of the staff! Tell Coco, (the talking Cockatoo) we said hello! We love her too!
