We love Porky's, and started eating here 10 years ago when we moved to Marathon. Open air & smack on the water (you can feed the fish from the back-wall tables), Porky's, like the nearby 7 Mile Grill, has true Keys charm with various beer signs, marine tackle, and what-have-you hung on the walls. The latest owners have improved the menu & the food (which was always good), & their BBQ sandwiches and fried corn on the cob have been joined by frequent offerings of steak as well as the regular ribs, chicken (BBQ & otherwise), and of course great fresh seafood. A small bar usually ringed with locals is tucked into the essentially open porch of the dining room (the kitchen has walls, lol), and there is always at least one dog lazily patrolling the tables. Live entertainment many evenings (a few still by the semi-retired Rocketman) make this a great spot to watch the sunset while you feast and hum along. Very basic architecture--we were afraid to go look after Wilma, sure that Porky's must have met its match at last--but we found the owners busily repairing, and Porky's still very much there, to our delight. Famous for several historical figures who dined, fished, or drank here in its long history (such as Dashiel Hammett & Lillian Hellman--check the history provided on the menus), this is a true taste of the old Keys and --even though the free sunset boat rides are no more--a fun spot for the whole family.
