This is a motel. I repeat a motel not a resort. It is off a busy thorougfare and if you get a room near the street keep your noisy airconditoner on because it sure beats hearing the passing traffic.
I was roped into this because the reviews sounded great. It's a motel. Our bedroom had linoleum floors. If your used to going to camp grounds or staying in trailor parks for your vacation than this might be your cup of tea.

My family and I have been going to Crystal Bay since before when it was called Sea Dell. We can't thank Jack and Veronica for making this one of the best family traditions ever. The owners are terrific as well as the staff. We are there every year for lobster season. We even love the housekeepers especially the children who they have watched grow up.
We have never had a problem with the rules even though there are about 23 or more of us that visit at least once a year. They are very nice! I have read some not so flatering things about Veronica on a couple of these review but please know she is harmless. She may come off harsh but she is really nice and actually pretty fun!
Thanks to Crystal Bay for entertaining my grandparents, aunts, uncles, parents, cousins, sisters, husband and children for as long as you've owned the place. You have helped make some great memories for us.

Wonderful stay!

We were walk ins looking for a 'clean' room at a bargain price.. While Nothing decent in the Keys is inexpensive, this was the best price we found. Imagine our surprise when the roooms were spotless, updated, and comfortable.

Locals bragged about how nice the landscaping was before the last hurricane, clearly, it's coming back. Owners and their exotic birds were quite friendly too. It's not a full 'Resort' as it doesnt have the tennis courts, SPAs, expensive restaurants, and over priced status, but it does have a nice park like setting with some recreational activities.

We liked it so much, we stayed there again on our way back to the mainland.

We stayed at Crystal Bay during the Thanksgiving holiday, so prices were probably higher than average, but for $200+/night I expected more than basic motel room fixtures. The grounds were also pretty beaten up courtesy of Wilma, and the dock area was full of smelly seaweed. The place is high on kitsch, and the kids loved the horseshoes, etc., but I was glad to leave after two nights.
