A nice place for families to stay. We had very friendly service at all times and were given great recommendations on where to eat.
The grounds were generally quiet. Unfortunately, we did have to change rooms after our first night. I think our evening arrival led them to give our room away. However both rooms had ample space for 2 adults and a 10 year old. Rooms were clean, although a bit of mildew in hard to see places in the bathroom. Seems to have fared well through the tough 2005 hurricane season.
There are PLENTY of things for a 10 year old to do here. We had fun with mini-golf, shuffleboard and ping pong. Pool was not olympic sized but clean.
Generally, we thought this was a good value given the 15 minute drive to the Dolphin Research Center or Bahia Honda Beach. Key West was a pleasant hour drive. At Marathon the pace is a bit slower or at least not as rowdy (or as expensive) as Key West.
Yes, with "Resort" in the name some people might have expectations of a concierge, jacuzzis in the room, saunas or haute cuisine in their restaurant name. We knew we were not getting a 5 star resort by adult standards but our child thought we went first class! We enjoyed our visit and would definitely stay here again.
