“Nice break from the car”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

Staff was very pleasant. Trails around property were well taken care of. Bird sanctuary was amazing. History behind property was very interesting. Definitely recommend this be a stop if it is your first trip to the area.

“Hoping for more”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

Having had a previous visit about 10 years ago, I was disappointed in my recent visit with my 7 y.o. son. The docent explained that the pump was broken and therefore no touch tanks or close observation of sea creatures, etc. The children's play area was tidy but in need of upgrades. The film about the history of Crane Point was interesting. The 'creature feature' was found lacking. The museum was adequate - information and flora/fauna diorama. The day we visited, 2 of the pathways were under water although we were able to travel some of the well marked and maintained nature trails. We had to take the road to the bird center and point. The bird center is small but fits with the area - the cages/enclosures were clean. We had the opportunity to see an American Kestrel - beautiful bird. We continued past the bird center to the point and enjoyed the breeze and the view - looking NW, my son spotted a sleeping dragon that was pretending to be an island.

“well done !”

I enjoyed walking the trails. There were plenty of labels on trees. The museum is also well labelled. Also great view from the point.

“Room for improvement...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

After reading a brochure and being told by our resort that it was a decent thing to do, we decided to try it out. Thankfully we had a coupon and didn't have to pay full price.

While it was informative and had beautiful, interesting scenery that you don't really get to see anywhere else in Marathon, the trails leading back to the Crane house were not paved and were very rough! There is no way that someone with a child in a stroller or a handicap person would be able to trek down them.

The path back from the Crane house to the museum is paved and I'm sure that's the way that would be recommended for those visitors.

With that being said, it was a very relaxing walk/hike back to the ocean. The bird sanctuary was great to see and very informative.

This was a one time visit for us.
