“Great experience!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2012

My family and I are getting ready to move to the keys and needed to come down to handle the business of enrolling in school and such. We just wanted a quaint, peaceful ,inexpensive place to stay. We were nervous, not knowing much about the keys or how the area is. After reading mixed but what we felt as mostly good reviews we booked here. We couldn't of been happier! We stated 3 nights. Wednesday thursday and Friday checking out Saturday. We paid just over 300 and change and we got the room with the kitchen. From what I could tell these were the only rooms that come with a screened in porch as well. The roo. Had two double beds, a tv with satellite, fully equipped kitchen, a table and chair for laptop or whatever and a wall unit ac and of course a bathroom with sink and walkin shower. There is even a lil nook spot that is a closet which was roomy to put suitcases..etc. my favorite pArt was the ceramics tiles floors throughout. Room and bathroom looked quite clean and I didn't see Anything that put me off. It was already very hot out for June ( its the keys they don't see a lot of cold) and the wall unit kept the room exceptionally cold. We are a family that likes it cold to sleep. We even brought a small desk fan after reading the review on the ac. We never used it. I would have used it for the porch though if there were a plug. The beds aren't overly comfy, two pillows per bed but it got the job done. I wasn't waking up in terrible back aches or anything...even having to cram with my husband and daughter haha( we had a friend with us) we used the other bed. The pool was clean and bath water warm. Lots of chairs to lay out. And next to the pool I. The back they have a great big community deck area where coffee is offered in the morning and in the evening everyone sits and drinks and talks. It sits on a canal so boats are welcome and so is fishing. There was a lot of that going on. It seemed like all the plates on the vehicles were Florida and that's where people came to stay and take the boats out. But never was it loud and rowdy. Heard a few planes fly over but all tiny Cessna type. Staff was very nice and welcoming just as everyone in the keys were. Free wifi best received if sitting outside. Great place to stay. If you are a Hilton type person go elsewhere...we don't need all that fancy stuff and really the only things different are more pillows, a bit more comfy beds and a tall building. Maids cleaned up everyday and our stay was what we hoped for and more. We don't have one complaint. Oh! And the place across the street...great breakfast not overpriced either

I always find it interesting when people write bad reviews. Some hotels are nothing more than what they advertise, yet people are let down and call the place a dump...it never said it wasn't. This location is no dump but it no Ritz either so temper your expectations. Rooms are small and clean. Beds are comfortable for one or two nights stay. Walls are a little thin. But I loved this place because I was not expecting anything more. The price was great and it included free (fast) Wi-fi.

So if you are looking for a place to stay and nothing more, this is it. You want the Ritz, then stay there! This place is great for in and out vacations. Oh, and the rooms come with a fridge and microwave. Can't beat that!

If you are looking for inexpensive but neat as a pin accomodations book this motel.
The owners have refurbished this 1950 motor court style motel into a gem. It's great for guys who like to fish and just need a place to crash between fishing trips. Bed was very comfortable and the shower was fantastic. I'll book again, next time down

Good price, clean rooms , no bathrooms at the pool so if you have to use one you have to go to your room, ice machine is very convinient.

Nice, quiet room reminds you of what it might of been like in the keys in the olden days. Buildings are old but they are updated enough and it was a good night sleep. The private pier in the back area is a nice spot to sit and relax after a long day of fishing, golfing snorkeling etc.

We booked a room with kingsized bed for 2 nights in April 2012 as Marathon is halfway down the keys and a reasonable price for the area (Key West being too expensive). We arrived and were given a small grubby room at the front of the motel right on the highway. We told the staff that it was not acceptable (mainly due to the noise) and were given an alternative at the back of the lot which was much better (although still very basic an the TV didnt work). We only used the room to sleep in whilst touring the area so it was acceptable for the price. Next time I would stay elsewhere and pay a bit more. When we were looking around Key West, places that looked nice were very expensive indeed.

We stayed in an upstairs room with two beds with seperate sitting area kitchenette. If you really cant afford somplace else then this place will do. This place is right next to the Marathon Airport and a few planes and small jets did land every once in a while....but not enough to be a bother. We paid $245 for two nights. The window air conditioner was not enough. It barely kept us cool and this was only April.....but it did work. The place was very clean, but very old.....nothing new in the entire room except the TV. The flat screen TV was very small....about a 14 inch that was mounted very high in the sitting area and not in the bedroom area. The key and lock on the front door was very old....not a new style card type key lock system found in most motel rooms around the country. The small kitchen area had everything you need to cook and serve a meal and the full size refridgerator was nice. We used the grill in the dock area to cook which was nice. There is an ice machine with ample ice centrally located. Real nice people at the front desk. We asked the maid for extra towels which we recieved very fast. We left a little tip for the maid upon departure for the clean room we recieved.
