“The best overnight deal in the Keys!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

We have been staying at Sunset Inn and Blue Fin in Islamorada for over 10 years. It is the best deal in the Florida Keys. The facilities are older but clean and the staff is very friendly. Sunset has a pool and Blue Fin has wifi hook up.

Walking distance is Lorelei which has live music, food and drinks and the best sunset viewing around. There is also Mike's which serves the best breakfast in the Keys.

Next door is the Lobster Trap, a one of a kind souvenir shop--not your run of the mill.

Islamorada is a nice central location to stay at while you see all of the Keys and enjoy your favorite--swimming, fishing, diving, visiting museums, shopping and more. Lot of history to soak up, too.

Room Tip: Big rooms with two double beds and a small refrigerator to keep your drinks cool. Also, lots of room...

Inexpensive, perfectly located, great mattress!

If you want anything more move on.

It was clean, and old, and had a wet bar, not a kitchenette. There are outlets on the wet bar so a crock pot or electric griddle would cut down on going out expenses.

BEST PART? WALKING/STUMBLING distance to Lorelei's on the back road behind the hotel.

Room Tip: Bring Shampoo fore the room, and a towel for the pool.

Thank you for the nice review. We have a few kitchenettes also that have a stove, refrig, microwave and pot, pans and dishes. They are not gourmet kitchenettes but very sufficient to save some money on meals. The Lorelei is the BEST and walking distance. Come see us again soon.

We have stayed at the Sunset for the last several years and have never been disappointed with the rooms or the service. It is an older place granted but over the years has had a lot of upgrades. Example....all new tile floors so no more musty old carpets like in a lot of other places. The pool is clean and the Lorelei a couple of blocks away! What's not to like!!!! We usually stay here a month as it is the best value in Islamorada!!!

Room Tip: Try to get ground floor around the pool... It is quieter at night.

We recently stayed at the Sunset Inn and we had a pool right outside our room, and the best breakfast in town a mere 20 steps from our door! We were in Islamorada for a friends wedding, Some of the guests stayed up the road for 4 times the price we paid and their rooms weren't any nicer than ours....The front desk was EXTREMELY helpful, the restaurant (Mangrove Mike's) was a wonderful place to sit and have a HUGE breakfast, piping hot coffee, a beautiful melange of fresh potatoes, sausage gravy, cheese and scrambled eggs & hot buttered rye toast!! A hangover fix if ever we saw it...1 order was enough for my husband and I apres' wedding reception!
We LOVE old Florida style places and this fit the bill....when we come to the Keys, we don't spend the entire time in the room staring at the mini-bar...so this was right up our alley. We will stay here again on our next adventure....the perfect place to chill out and relax by the pool, catch a nap in a nice clean bed (freshly laundered everything, YAY@@!!) or grab a hot shower (great pressure on the shower too....for rinsing all the salt off)
Thanks to the owners here for providing such a nice, affordable place for folks like us who want to enjoy a little paradise too!!!!! We saw a sign this weekend that said, "Paradise Ain't Cheap"....well, if you stay here, it's alot more affordable!!!! We'll be back!!
Tom, Shari & Sean

Room Tip: Poolside is nice, everything was nice, quiet and private...we didn't hear the folks next door, p...

Nothing fancy but we always stay there because the price is right and it is close to the Bud n Marys Marina where we charter the Gonfishin V. They have A/C and a pool. Walking distance to Mangrove Mikes and Lauraleis to eat. Older motel.

Thanks for your review. Sunset is very centrally located. Within 2 miles there are 6-7 marinas and I can't count how many great restaurants. The Lorelei is walking distance and has food, drink, music and great sunsets nightly. Come see us again soon

We stayed here for one night and wouldn't have stayed for another. Our room was extremely run down. The bathroom was very old and everything was rusty and moldy. Nothing made us feel welcome at this place. The front desk lady tried to be nice, but it didn't have a genuine feeling to it. Wouldn't recommend this place. The bed however was clean and the mattresses looked quite new. The rest was in pretty bad condition. It was also very loud and the truck came to collect the trash at 6 a.m. right next to our room.

Stayed for 2 nights at the Sunset Inn. It is a no frills motel, however, inexpensive for that area, rooms were clean and staff very polite. Don't go expecting a blow dryer, shampoo, etc. but a great little place to lay your head. Our room was updated, however, outside could probably use some paint here and there. Overall, pleased with the stay...............

Thank you for your review. Actually we are in the process of painting the exterior.
For us it is a slow process as we are doing it with our staff. This is one of the ways we try to keep the expences down so our prices can remain low. Please come back soon and see our painting progress
