“not enough service and too much bad music”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2012

The service was pretty bad, especially in the restaurants and the spa.
We could not get and keep the attention of the hostess, waitress and others who were busy standing around.
The spa desk people were not helpful and made my wife walk outside after a workout so that she could come back inside to freshenup.
We did not like the pools with too loud bad music that did not fit the atmosphere.
The place has lost its past appeal.

We appreciate your feedback, and apologize that some members of our team disappointed you. Our restaurant and spa associates take great pride in providing excellent service in a timely and professional manner. Our Spa associates do ask our guests using only the fitness center to exit to the outside instead of walking through the Spa. Guests who use this exit are welcome to use the restrooms, changing areas and showers located just outside the fitness studio. This eliminates unnecessary foot traffic through the Spa itself, where we strive to keep the ambiance soothing and private. We are sorry if your wife was inconvenienced.
We are also regret that the music at our pool did not appeal to you. We recently installed a state-of-the-art, highly upgraded sound system that plays suitable music that changes from morning to evening. Again, we apologize that this music was not what you wanted to hear.
Thank you for your review, and we will use your comments to improve the services here at Cheeca Lodge & Spa.

It's our annual destination for relaxation. Great staff, beautiful rooms, decks overlooking fantastic ocean views.
This years highlight was the announcement of our engagement! Staff Christopher was gracious enough to act as our number one photographer for a very special moment.
This years best meal? Hosted by the Sushi Chef Dana himself. My hubby (to be) was delighted by Dana's great skill and passion for food and his work.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and based on this wonderful visit we will return again next year!.

Fantastic review! Congratulations on your engagement -- we are very honored that you chose Cheeca as the backdrop to make the big announcement. We are also happy that staffer Christopher captured that special moment on camera for you. We'd love to host your wedding for you as well!!

We are delighted that you were so impressed with our Sushi Chef Dana, who prepared your “year’s best meal.”

It sounds like you really enjoyed our staff, accommodations and fantastic ocean views. We are thrilled that Cheeca is your annual destination for relaxation, and we look forward to welcoming you back again next year. Again, thank you.

Had a great stay after a bad experience at the Hilton Key Largo " resort ".
The old saying goes " you get what you pay for " and this was a great place to stay, great facilities great food great staff ,slept like a log and woke refreshed .
Thanks to Shannon at front desk who in my opinion is a credit to Cheeka Lodge and indeed all the staff who were quick with a smile and a greeting.
The grounds are kept spotless by a small army who keep everything running smoothly.
Thanks again

This is a beautiful place whether you are active (tennis, golf) or a beach/spa person. We stayed in the cheaper rooms and thought they were just fine. Helpful staff. Only downside is that the ocean swimming is not so great, but it has a great pool.

Thank you for your friendly comments. We agree with you – Cheeca is a beautiful place for both the adventurous and the beach chair lovers. We are also very glad to hear that our accommodations met your expectations in terms of value. The ocean waters just off Cheeca’s beach are too shallow for swimming, but there is a ladder at the end of the 525-foot wooden fishing pier where the water is deep enough to swim. As you noted, Cheeca does have two great swimming pools and a saltwater snorkeling lagoon as well.
We greatly appreciate your kind review, and hope you will consider returning again soon.

The hotel is located by the sea and has a nice pier for fishing. Also where all the pelicans hang out hoping for an easy dinner. The beach is recommended; rather take a swim in the pool. We stayed in a suite with one bedroom and kitchenette. The suite was spacious but brown and dark. The bathroom was nice and big. The drawback was the noise on the balcony and the view. We were facing straight in to a wall and just under our balcony all the A/C units lived. The restaurant at the hotel was expensive, but it’s a short and easy walk from the hotel to several local restaurants.

Room Tip: Ask for a view far away from A/C unit noise.

Your review is greatly appreciated. We are delighted you enjoyed our 525-foot wooden fishing pier and got to meet some of our local pelicans. Our spacious suites capture a West Indies-inspired motif with dark mahogany furnishings, colorful tropical artwork and a spacious marble bathroom. We regret that while you found the suite spacious, you were disappointed with the noise and view from the balcony.
Our restaurants offer a wide range of menu selections and prices that are comparable to other restaurants nearby. We are happy that you enjoyed some of the other eateries here in Islamorada.
We appreciate your comments, and will use them to enhance our overall guest experience.

My husband and I visited Cheeca in mid December for a last minute long weekend getaway for my birthday. We didn't arrive until about 6 pm, but were greeted promptly and given a great walk in rate! We had a 1 BR Lagoon view room, king bed, sitting room, full kitchen with granite countertops, 2 plasma tv's and a huge bathroom with seperate (huge) tub and shower. The room was perfect, and it overlooked the lagoon that is surrounded by torches at dark.
Pros: upscale, clean, nice beach, bikes, movies, tiki bar, pier, beautiful grounds!
Cons: It is a little pricey anyway, so the resort fee hurts at check out, although we enjoyed a few of the amenities with it.
Overall: We had a fabulous time and would definitely come back!

My girlfriends and I booked this place through an online deal. The place was completely understaffed, particularly the spa. Hotel staff were rude and one staff member even discouraged us from upgrading to a larger room with an ocean even though we were happy to pay extra. The rooms were quite nice, the restaurants were average.
I would advise you to look to strongly reconsider booking. Florida must have better to offer.
