My family was very happy we found the Island Grill in Islamorada. The food was great. Much better than we had at Marker 88 or the Fish Company. The staff was very helpful even though they were all very busy. There was a live band playing during our dinner which really added a nice touch to the beautiful waterfront setting. We would definitely eat here again.
We have been to islamorda many times but we just found the island grill and we will return every year.
There was a wind off of the gulf so we we looking for a good gulf side restaurant and found it.
There is a great tiki bar on a canal that had a one man band as we arrived. It would be a great place to sit and have drinks any time of day.
We had the best table in the place - in the corner with views of the boats going under the bridge and traveling in the canal.
Our food was excellent. I had the grilled Florida lobster while my husband had the cuban sandwich and our toddler had chicken strips.
Our waitress was attentive and helped us chose from the menu.
There was a band outside later which would have been fun but we were wiped out from the day of travel.
Went for dinner last night at the Island Grill based on glowing reviews in Trip Advisor. We were very disappointed. The food was mediocre at best. Tacky atmosphere!!
Having traveled to the Keys for 15 years, my wife and I have eaten at numerous Key restaurants. While stuck in Sunday traffic, we just happened to see a full parking lot at what looked like a small hidaway dock, or bar.
We decided to get out of traffic and investigate. To put it simply ... we were astounded. The location is reminicent of scene from the "African Queen". The food was excellent , and the live music was very professional.
There is a wonderful bar inside and out. The tables are directly on the water. The wonderful cool breeze of the Atlantic keeps the insects away. This is a GREAT PLUS.
The menu was very upscale with several fresh fish dishes. The sauces and salads were excellent. The service was friendly and prompt. Dinner for two with wine and cocktails $65.00. Very reasonable.
As nightfall came we were surprised once again by the announcement of the evening "Rock & Roll" Magic show. We were led down a triopical path to a hidden bar on the waters edge. The show was hilariously funny and family friendly. Many children were present.
The best thing about finding this hidden treasure is the fact that we don't have to drive to Key West for great food and fun.
