I recently got married in Islamorada, with Caribbean Catering as the caterer and Debbie as the coordinator. Overall, the wedding was lovely. The food was as good as you can expect for mass produced wedding food. The location was lovely and I thought Caribbean Catering's prices were reasonable, based on what else I saw in the region.
However, the process was not without problems. Debbie is not particularly flexible. If you don't have much in the way of ideas or opinions, you can hand your event over to her and be confident it will be executed competently. But, if you try to do things differently than she's used to, she won't even entertain the possibility. She was, for instance, unwilling to offer appetizer stations for our cocktail hour, insisting on passed hors d'oeurves only. She would not offer a tasting of the main course - something that's standard in event planning. As other reviewers mentioned, she can be a bit prickly to deal with - often curt. She bills herself a wedding coordinator but won't even handle something as simple as putting placecards out in alphabetical order.
And, at our wedding, I had wanted light orange tablecloths. After showing us the color swatches, she insisted that one of them was orange, despite a yellow-sounding name. She assured me repeatedly that they were orange. Well, they were yellow. Not a big deal, but just another sign that she's not particularly tuned in to her clients' wishes.
Bottom line: If you don't sweat the small stuff, if you'd rather not make a lot of decisions or have a lot of choices, go with Caribbean Catering for your wedding. But if you want anything other than what they always offer for food and drink selections, set-up, etc., go with someone who will listen to you and be more amenable.

I have to admit as a 'reforming perfectionist', the concept of handing over every tiny detail of my wedding to someone I had only met once was a bit of a daunting prospect. But after our first meeting with Debbie I felt completely at ease! She was so warm and I really enjoyed her light and friendly keys style personality.

We chose Caribbean Catering for our Friday BBQ and Saturday wedding and reception and we couldn't be more pleased! Every thing we asked of her she did AND MORE! The BBQ on Friday night was awesome and the wedding was everything we had ever wanted. She and her staff interacted with our guests as if we had all known each other for years, courteous and professional always.

HINT: We chose to have the steak au poivre and the caribbean chicken for our menu items. Though I loved them both, the steak was LITERALLY the most perfectly cooked, deliciously seasoned and tender pieces of meat i have ever had. And I am measuring them to some pretty fantastic NYC steakhouses!

Go with these folks! You can't go wrong!

I read all of the wonderful reviews about Caribbean Catering and chose Debbie's catering services for my wedding. After reading all of these wonderful reviews, I was completely shocked after my first visit with her. She was very unfriendly and she constantly answered the phone during our scheduled appointment. I left the appointment shocked, but decided to choose her as my caterer because of her high recommendations and the fact that she is about the only "higher quality" caterer in Islamorada. I met with her a second time and unfortunately her poor attitude was once again very evident. During this scheduled appointment, she once again made myself and my fiance feel completely uncomfortable and a burden. She could not have pushed us out the door quick enough. Unfortunately our wedding had to be canceled because the resort was under renovations. She told us that was our bad luck and we were out of our deposits, because they are nonrefundable. But honestly, I would have rather let her have the $500 then give her the $1000s of dollars for our wedding. Caribbean Catering may put on a great wedding, but I would rather give someone my money that actually cares about their customers.
